Since 1992, the English Premier League has enjoyed some of the most remarkable growth in sports history. Today, its clubs collectively generate more than Є6.5 billion in revenue each year. But Europe’s other leagues make far less, and their disadvantage is starting to make the sport less competitive.

  2. Would love to more related content in the future. Specially in regards to how different managers at various clubs have made nuanced tweaks in strategies when it comes to player acquisitions and tactics, that's allowing them to narrow the gap on the so called classical "top 6" clubs. Club profiles would also be great. Cheers!

  3. Hey guys, excited for the new channel and can't wait to see the content…BUT….not a big fan of the sponsor. This service is widely known to be, well, pretty useless. Please look into the value it provides – or doesn't provide – and assess if it's worth taking their money. IMO you should apply the same rigor to the sponsor cheques that you do your long form stories.

  4. I’ve been a Premier League fan since 1998. Chelsea and Abramovic were the beginning of the league’s end. The Premier League allowed any amount of money to be poured in by select owners since 2004. That created ballooning of player valuations. Man Utd started this crazy trend with an £89 million bid for Pogba. And ever since, the league has been just a game of spend more, win more. The soul of the game is gone. Modern fans support for glory, us long termers support because we see the remnants of beautiful clubs we once used to support. We keep hoping we’ll find that passion while we know money has corrupted the soul of the game, and that pure passion won’t ever come by.

  5. I think part of the Premier League's success is owed to the American fans who, until now, have not viewed the MLS as a legitimate soccer league. For decades, the Premier League has been the de facto league of choice for English speaking fans around the world. Now, however, since Messi has joined the MLS, and soccer in the United States is experiencing a rennaissance, these cultural influences will fade away, and the European leagues will naturally be brought ever closer to parity. Give it 10 years. The MLS will contend with the Italian and French leagues in terms of talent, and will contend with the Premier League in terms of attention and financial investment.

  6. Came over from Johnny heiresses page not a sports fan at all but found that pretty interesting.

  7. Great channel
    Thanks Johnny
I would also like to see videos on Cricket 🏏
    Here is a tip
How Indian cricket board “BCCI” runs the ICC the cricket body that governs
And many other money related issues

  8. Really enjoyed this video! I would love more like it!

Some ideas I would love to see videos about:

Why is soccer so popular worldwide as opposed to other sports? How do dynasties occur in different sports, especially those with salary caps? How did America Football supplant Baseball as USA’s top sport, and why isn’t it popular in other countries?

  9. If you think this is messy, you should look into where the NCAA is headed for the next video. I think things are going to change fairly quickly in college sports.

  10. Being Komi myself, I would like to see a story of Russian colonialism, especially in modern days. How Russian "Federation" treats its peoples.

  11. You touched on it a little bit but, I really am fascinated by the intersection of government and sports, especially local governments that have to deal with the costs of hosting a major sporting event and the benefits of having the team in their city.

  12. Story idea; Assuming the average US citizen does not eat organic food, how many different chemicals does an average citizen ingest in a week? How many chemicals did the average US citizen ingest in 1960's? I'm curious to know how extreme the difference is and to see if our mental and physical health is declining as a result. Cheers and look forward to this channel's future videos.

  13. And till this day, sports fans continue to be amongst the most debaucherous and barbaric hobby groups.

  14. Story idea: how montreal, quebec is producing the new basketball super athletes ❤ i have a few contacts if u need more info.

  15. It's amazing how similar this is to the issues we're facing with capitalism in America. Just replace football clubs with tech companies, and it's the same problem. The Amazons, Googles, and Facebooks of the world buy out small companies and destroy competition. Interestingly, America's league (the MLS) applies a more socialist model which, while lacking some quality, allows for greater parity among clubs. In contrast, with very rare exceptions, only five clubs will ever win the EPL.

  16. The top teams in Spain, Germany, Italy, France, and other nations need to band together and listen to Florentino Perez. Adjust to allow relegation. But if you don't form a super league the EPL will runaway with it all.

  17. Make a video on the new sale of the Washington Commanders (Redskins) NFL football team. Everyone knows there is alot of behind the scenes things going on that isn't being talked about with former owner Dan Snyder being ousted. There is a cover-up that needs to be investigated.

  18. If I was Vox i would start charging for training loyalties from all former Vox Journalists and then set up an expensive journalism training school, there production is top notch

  19. Praise to black gold, all the petrol dollar, oil money sheikhs and kings, EPL is nothing without foreign "investment". You can have history like Italian clubs, but everyday you need to spend to move forward, and not reminisce about old history too much.

  20. I’ve recently gotten into football and am from the US. While I do like the promotion/relegation that the English teams have I suppose I am thankful for the MLS’s salary cap.

  21. This is so moronic. The only way the PL has broken football is by being the fairest league anywhere in Europe. The reason there's so much money is because it's entirely equitable.
Everybody gets the same share of broadcasting revenue, the only differences are qualifying for Europe and the level of your merit payment based on where you finish in the league. Other countries decided to give the vast majority of the revenue to big clubs like Barca, Madrid, Juve, Inter etc, which is why there's only 2 or 3 teams in those leagues that can compete.
Yes, the state-owned clubs are grim, but the actual PL system works brilliantly and should be the model for leagues everywhere. 3 up, 3 down every season.
Everybody gets paid the same for their season in the league. One member, one vote when it comes to rule changes. Collective bargaining for TV deals.

  22. The Scottish were playing football in Castle grounds as far back as the 16th Century with professional athletes and even leagues so it was the Scottish that invented football not the English.

Its been proven but the English glory hounds steal credit from everyone else as per usual and now they're destroying the beautiful game that Scotland has gifted to the world by selling themselves out to the highest bidder.

Just so these English gloryhounds can have the bragging rights to having the best league in the world.

Welldone England you managed to f*ck up something beautiful yet again…..👏👏👏
