Red Bull’s Homecoming, Ferrari Moving Forward? | Austrian GP Preview | F1 Nation Podcast

Red Bull return to their home race in Austria having joined an exclusive club of constructors to win 100 Grands Prix, after Max Verstappen’s victory in Canada. The Dutchman is now 69 points clear of teammate Sergio Perez in the drivers’ standings and plenty more are on offer this weekend because the Red Bull Ring will host the second F1 Sprint of the season.

Tom Clarkson is joined by 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill to reflect on where the Championship has potentially been won and lost in the last three races. After that stellar podium in Canada, where Verstappen stood alongside Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, TC and DH discuss which traits they’d take from each driver to build the ‘ultimate World Champion’ – inspired by the driver rating categories of EA SPORTS F1 23.

The thrilling battle between Aston Martin and Mercedes is also on the agenda, along with the progress of Ferrari and Williams after much better results in Montreal. Plus, McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella drops by to talk about their upgrades for the next few races, and Tom and Damon answer your questions in Ask The Nation. 1. Being a HONDA supporter, I also like Max, but Lewis IMO has the best race craft, similar to MSC.
I believe Max is still developing, and not yet at the level of Lewis.

  2. Max snatched Checo soul from his body after Miami and the icing on the cake was Max pointing to the #1 on his car after.

  3. Ferrari can challenge for maybe p3 but more than likely best of the rest. I see mercedes getting p2 since AM is handycap by carrying the stroll backpack

  4. Spoiler alert; no. Ferrari is Ferrari's greatest enemy. Joke of a team.

  5. Charles is clearly the quickest driver over 1 lap on the grid. Brundle also said as much.

  6. lewis is that tiny bit more “proselyte”? 5:09
can someone explain me that last word? Did I hear DH say that correctly? I would love to understand.

  7. How much of @redbull success is attributed to Adrian? Some how much of the rule change is attributed to there success ?

  8. Damon chooses Lewis over Fernando as the better with race craft. Fair enough, it’s a Judgement call. He then proceeds to give give his reason why. That reason actually backs Alonso as being better. Damon then restates Lewis has better race craft. 🤷‍♂️

Reason Damon gave was Lewis can consistently do as the engineers request. He then says Alonso can too and probably doesn’t need the engineer. He can do it on his own and even tell the engineer what is needed.

  9. Damon over the Hill…. HAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHHA 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  10. Pace: Verstappen

    Racecraft: Verstappen

    Experience: Alonso

    Whining: Hamilton
    Winning: Verstappen

    Humor: Alonso

    Over the: Hill

  11. Ferrari is never gonna win (the championship) again. You can't compete in LeMans, F1 and other huge series and expect to win them all.

  12. I'm always amazed at Damon Hill's comments on Max Verstappen. Damon is always saying something to take away from Max's accomplishments.
For example: Half of the grid has more in the tank. Max is already on the max.
Other example: Tom says: all in all, Max is the better driver. And Damon says: yeah, but we haven't seen the total carrier of Max.

Damon has always been critical of Max and has never been able to objectively judge Max. There's always something to criticize. What a whiner.

  13. Charles Leclerc is imagening problems with the left-hand-something-is-not-right-correct-with-the-brakes-the-steering-something-balance-anything-we have to talk about it because it is undrivable/impossible/veryjumpy and unpredictable……!!!…!

  14. Ofcourse Max is getting it from Damon, because Max is winning he isn’t the best. Let me work that one out Damon.

  15. Not a chance, Max are ahead these days and the kid hasnt even peaked.

  16. Daemon Shill should get his head out of lulu's behind, unless the clown wants to keep spouting BS like he does about Max all the time.

  17. Who asked for Damon his opinion about Verstappen? Main thing about Lewis that he is from the UK. Damon likes this above all other stuff. At least we know we are listing to UK promotion in his case👍

  18. Hamilton quicker than Verstappen but he doesn't have the car..? Get real, GR is beating him consistently in qualifying.

  19. Hill is so frustrated by the fact Max is taking Hamilton apart every single race. Like most of the Brits they hate it that Max already is considered a better driver than Lewis.

  20. Barcelona and Montreal wete cooler than normal and since peerez is soft on his tyres, he isn't able to drive in a way that maintains the tyres in its optimum window, unlike drivers like max and Lewis.
Peter Windsor describes great writers adapt to the condition in their driving.

  21. This dude, Damon, has a personal problem with Max Verstappen? Is like he didn't watch F1 the last 2 years talking from history books. He doesn't want to acknowledge the talent and achievements that Verstappen demonstrated so far. And for those who start to say "he has the car" just stop embarrassing yourselves , because if you have the car it doesn't mean you have the talent to drive it at the limits, just look at Perez , he is not even close to Verstappen. Verstappen is getting better and netter each year , it's really scary how much work he puts in the SIM and on the track. He perfected the short corner technique
