Once Lebron and his team realized this speech was a disaster they try to deflect again by announcing he's changing his number to honor Russell. No surprise it's headlining ESPN news now. RIch probably just thinks that's a coincidence. The will I retire narrative after being swept was definitely a calculated move. Watch the postgame. Nobody asks him about this, he brings it up unsolicited, and he leaves right after he says it. Like Rich, but he seems to be carrying some water.
I've always thought LeBron and Donovan McNabb have similar personalities 🤔. The needy insecurity. At least LeBron didn't play the air guitar 🎸
In all seriousness. I've spoken to my son about LeBron. There are few athletes that have lived up to the "hype." LeBron has been "chosen" since high school and is one of those few. Throw Jr Griff, Gretzky and Tiger into that mix. I'm sure there are other's I'm forgetting. All that pressure and expectations. It's a difficult task. So maybe a "look at me moment" isn't that bad

What to make of it… trying to remain relevant as he enters his last years. Literally no reason to announce he’s coming back. No one even asked the question besides stupid media outlets during a slow sports season. It was just weird to me.
In my humble opinion it was really tacky and very self indulged. Never thought that he could up scale the cringey of " The Decision" until the ESPYs…

In comparison to Jordan, it feels like LeBron is over exposed. I don't remember hearing from Jordan outside his commercials and during NBA season. He was a brand before we knew what branding was.
LeBron I feel has been since day one 50% talent and 50% brand. Unlike Jordan, his LeBron's persona of being the goat was either short lived or always challenged by the veterans and peers he played against. There was very little question, that Jordan was the best, even when he was losing
