HeatStrokes Podcast – Best Bets Open Championship

Welcome to DeadHeatGolf.com, home of the HeatStrokes Podcast. I’m Brady Kannon.

Beginning the first week in April, the week of the 2023 Masters, myself and my special guest, Matt Youmans, will bring you an entertaining, informative, unique, and actionable podcast – on a weekly basis – throughout the rest of the PGA Tour golf season. Additional featured guests will rotate in the co-host chair and we will also have special guest picks for each week’s PGA Tour event.

Matt and I have been friends for many years. Our first experiences golfing together were during SuperContest Weekend at the Las Vegas Country Club over a decade ago.

Golfing together eventually became working together at VSiN. Matt was a co-host on the golf betting show I created at VSiN called “LongShots.” Matt, myself, and the 3rd member of our show, Wes Reynolds, experienced a great deal of success for nearly 5 years on LongShots, picking outright winners, Top 20 finishers, head to head matchups. You name it, we formed one of the best golf handicapping trios in the world.

I grew up in Northern California and moved to Las Vegas 29 years ago. I love the desert heat, the dry air, and enjoy golfing almost exclusively during the summer months. Matt moved to the desert shortly after I did. He’s been known to go on what has been tabbed, the “Hot as Hell Golf Tour,” which often includes a trip to Death Valley – playing in temperatures over 120-degrees. During the summer of 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, Matt and I played roughly 20 rounds of golf together over the course of just a few months – from Las Vegas, to Arizona, to Laughlin, Nevada, to St. George, Utah.

In this podcast, special guest contributors and I will combine our love for playing the game, the intense heat, and the great outdoors – with our passion for betting on professional golf – the PGA Tour.

This podcast will not be a long-winded 60+ minute yawner. We will spend roughly 25 to 30 minutes, first reviewing a golf course that we have played – in the heat, of course – and secondly, giving out our analysis, handicapping strategy, and best bets for that week’s PGA Tour event. We will also have a special guest’s best bets each week, with a new guest every week, giving their picks for every tournament.

It is the HeatStrokes Podcast. You will be able to find it wherever you get your podcasts and also on our website, DeadHeatGolf.com. DeadHeatGolf.com will have the podcast archives available for you to access at any time. We will list all of our weekly picks prior to the tournament and grade them after the event. We will have a list of the local golf courses featured on our show with information about each course. We will also have a “Golf Shop” or our store, where you can purchase DeadHeatGolf and HeatStrokes Podcast merchandise. And finally, we will have a list of our show sponsors with many offering special deals for our audience.

I mentioned that the HeatStrokes Podcast will kick off on Masters Week. The completed product will be available first-thing every Wednesday morning. In this, our first year of this project, we will record 20 episodes – from The Masters through the BMW Championship, which is Round Two of the FedExCup Playoffs in mid-August.

Golf courses we will review in the HeatStrokes podcast will include Bali Hai – a tropical paradise located right on the fabulous Las Vegas Strip, Cascata – a world class, elite property that is one of the best golf course experiences in the country. Rio Secco, Reflection Bay, the Paiute Resort – all Top 200 Resort Courses in America. We will go to the islands for a review of The Plantation Course in Kapalua, Maui – home to the PGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions. Furnace Creek in Death Valley, TPC Scottsdale and Quintero in Arizona, Sand Hollow in Hurricane, Utah. Laughlin Ranch in Laughlin, Nevada. Primm Valley, located on the Nevada-California state line, and Coyote Springs, a fantastic Jack Nicklaus signature design, one hour from the Las Vegas Strip. We will review Private Clubs like SouthShore at Lake Las Vegas, Red Rock Country Club, DragonRidge, and the historic Las Vegas Country Club.

We’ll give you insights on each course, costs, how to play, and have some good stories for you regarding our experiences playing these courses in the dead heat of summer. If you thought betting on golf was a sweat, try playing these courses in triple-digit temperatures.

So there ya have it. The HeatStrokes Podcast at DeatHeatGolf.com with me, Brady Kannon and some of the best special guests in the industry. Kicking off on Masters Week 2023. Bringing the heat with news you can use – golf course reviews and our best bets for every PGA Tour tournament, every week. We look forward to sharing it with all of you every week.

And in the meantime, Stay Hot.
