I’m a 10hcp cross handed player
It's called a hurling grip in Ireland, a lot of good Irish golfers naturally grip the club this way. They most likely played hurling as a youth, and that's the standard way the hurley is gripped
I played with a guy from the Nike tour in the early 90’s that fleeced us in Dallas at cedarcrest golf club, an old Tillinghouse course that the 27 pga championship was played on. I shot 78 and my partner shot 72. He shot 67 and followed us to the atm to pay off our bet. His last name was Crews.

I used to play golf cross handed almost my whole life but last year I swapped grip, I got more distance. And now I play better than I did before, I always putt crosshanded still
When I first played golf, this was the only way that I could swing the clubs. Now it feels weird trying that lol
