Walton Uncovered – S1:E2 | Thatch Me If You Can

Walton & Hersham are on the verge of winning the league. They’re ahead of Basingstoke on goal difference, meaning that all they have to do in their final fixture, away to Thatcham Town, is match Basingstoke’s result and they will win the league… and promotion.

But Thatcham are not planning on giving them an easy ride…

  1. Wait, if Thatcham hate Basingstoke so much then why did they help them win the league? 😂😂😂

  2. watching these series makes you appreciate how good marc is! these 2 are pretty clueless

  3. That old guy having a fight with the tunnel 😂. The sort of content you can only get on this channel!

  4. Scott has got to be Ed Harris' relation, right? From seeing him in the first episode, I've been waiting for Rich to mention that there's a crossover between the BOA series in the Harris brothers

  5. 13:24 Well bang goes your chances of working with the BBC. But I think it’s worth it for the of the moment joke (or truth bomb 😂).

17:40 The keeper isn’t even letting them have a corner let alone a goal. The shot before this one 9/10 will go for a corner when it’s saved, but no the keeper manages to push it forward into a safe area. Which Tbf is called good goalkeeping.

19:40 – Commenting is this goes along as usual so don’t know the outcome of the match. But looks like one of those that just needs a few nerves calming rather than changing things up and taking extra risks. Sometimes keeping things simple and doing what you know best is the way to go. Just needs a bit of the Dorking Marc approach of striking that balance between the team knowing it is a big game but not a big game (can’t recall how he phrases it, but his phrase is spot on). Do your job right and keep your concentration, stick to your strengths and treat it like any other game but we’ve got one shot at this so we’ve got to fight for everything and take our chances. That vibe. The we’ve got to take risks, even though it makes sense, just might create a bit more complication and anxiety than you might bargain for. Play the odds game, they don’t look like losing, so the message I think should be don’t lose, because this we shouldn’t lose if we do our jobs right. On that score, so far so good, but we now need to turn that screw and put them under pressure.

Tbf he did say some of those things but 🤔

23:15 It’s not exactly the Somme has to rank as one of the all time best comments ever made.

Kind of a hard one to take at the end so hopefully someone got the message through for the play-offs that if that game had been at any other time in the season it’s a good away point. It’s easy to feel like you’re going into the playoffs on the back of a defeat when that’s not what happened in reality. Keeping confidence up is going to be imperative so it’s about keeping the momentum going rather than feeling that you might be hitting a losing spell.

  6. That pre match talk about not bottling it and having to look teammates in the eye after really backfired. Unnecessarily pressure added.

  7. Yash has made a very valid point there. Why would you bring a stereo out to a pitch where the opposition are to hype yourselves up when this can potentially help the opposition also? Silly thing to do IMO

  8. Would pay to watch this team quite happily . Play football thats easy on the eye

  9. I went to school with the Basingstoke assistant manager so seeing Walton bottle it is absolutely great

  10. Good non league story Stourbridge playing at Weymouth many years ago the players used to put a dvd on,on the coach the in betweeners box set was put on! Did not go down well with the OAp’s like my dad 😂

  11. What an episode! Can't help but feel that Walton went a bit negative in the last 5mins and invited pressure but not getting that crucial third goal was their undoing. Eddie will be haunted by that miss.

  12. Really enjoying this little series, Billy seems a wicked coach. Perfect examples of fine margins in football this game, hopefully they smashed the playoffs and went up, look forward to the next episode

  13. Thatcham celebrating like they won the world cup😂 embarrassing
