‘I would NOT want to win a game in THAT MANNER!’ | Ben Stokes | 2nd Ashes Test at Lord’s

England coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes believe Australia broke “the spirit” of the laws of cricket in the Jonny Bairstow dismissal at Lord’s on Sunday.

McCullum and Stokes agreed Bairstow was out, technically, in the second Ashes Test. But Stokes says he doesn’t want to win that way.

Bairstow left his crease believing the umpires called, “Over,” meaning the ball is dead.

But wicketkeeper Alex Carey tossed down the stumps and Bairstow was stumped.

Australia captain Pat Cummins says, “It was totally fair play. There was nothing untoward or sneaky.”

He says Bairstow was leaving the crease too often and got caught.

  1. Fuck England, fuck icc. In wc final nz should win but icc rule take place that time where is sprit of cricket gone Ben stock it is mean behenchod .

  2. I don’t want win game it means u r use less statement. Soo no need to play cricket just run hotel nd make money 😂😂😂😂

  3. Turned this event into a side show filled with hate and inciting violence because he England team couldn’t accept the umpires decision 😢then to go on and take the high moral ground is fascicle has brought the game into disrepute 🤮

  4. The same thing happened in W Indies in 1969, when Tony Greig ran out a WI batsman, who was walking off at the end of dya.

The WI complained loudly, and England agreed to withdraw the runout appeal

  5. The real SPIRIT of any game is to know the RULES, so you don't make complete and utter FOOLS of yourself, the rest of your teammates, and the whole COUNTRY.

  6. So you don't mind getting 4 overthrow runs when your bat deflects the ball. Your glory in ODI is winning the world cup off that overthrow, and you have galls to preach the spirit of the game?

  7. It was a fair throw and run out. Get on with it stop bleating. More importantly consider the real mistake made of declaring too early. If you really wanted to win you would have continued to bat and stuffed the Aussies for 600 or so. If winning is the game then win.

  8. The way England stole the T20 WC from NZ was at least 10 times worse than this. To hell with the spirit of cricket on that occasion.

  9. It's just one of those things….its within the laws of the game….and that's just how it is

  10. I remember Ben Stokes',, u won the game in the same manner,, against the kiwi's 2019 w cup final,, over throw,, if u remember,, I remember it,,
    Why r u burning,,
u will be dismissed from the captaincy after the ashes 2023
    Having loss to Aussies,,

  11. T 20 world cup final cheat. says a lot when you took 2 runs when it was only one, just to get back on strike. English cricket seems to be the only ones who can make up the rules as it goes on.

  12. This is hilarious. The problem is England can’t win a game. Anything to distract from that point.

  13. Stokes didn't say that in the 2019 world Cup final when the ball struck a helmet which was on the ground and he took the runs, he seems to have forgotten that.

  14. Bit late, but one wonders; had the batsman been Khawaja on 140no, and the bowler been Robinson, would Stokes want to win a match in that way?

  15. I agree with Stokes, that this type of dismissal is not within the "spirit of the game", but why did he not stop Bairstow taking a shy at the stumps when Aussies were batting? Or was he napping when those incidents happened?

  16. For the world champions to be abused, attacked, intimidated for being cheats by the locals and members of Lords is a disgrace.
Especially when England have cheated themselves is a very low point in English Cricket
