This Makes Hitting Driver so Much Easier for Senior Golfers

If you’re a senior golfer and you’re struggling to hit your driver the way you want to, this golf lesson from Todd Kolb is for you! In this video, we’ll show you how to increase club head speed with your driver, so you can swing faster and hit the ball farther.

This easy driver golf swing will help you hit the ball harder and straighter, regardless of your clubhead speed. If you’re tired of hitting the ball low and right-handed, this video is for you!

  1. When I do my 3 setters before hit, I have my backswing club head visible on my target side. It helps my hip turn and gives me extra distance. Thanks from Kissimmee Fl

  2. Todd. Thanks always for your great tips and the care you take in explaining them to us. As an experienced golfer (54) who has lost distance due to injuries playing Army many, many moons ago, I'm thankful for tips like yours. They work. Still launching low on driver, but getting back to better. Keep doing the good you do. (Mike, fmr low 80's shooter, now game enjoyer- Apex, NC)

  3. Todd , I have enjoyed your lessons
I am 73 from Memphis TN! I play in a seniors group 2 times a week and my handicap has improved since watching your tips!

  4. I found you by accident (YouTube suggested)
Your teaching is practical and useful. Several times it's helped me on the range…Thank you Todd

  5. Experienced golfer from mid-Michigan here. Thanks, Todd. Will take these out to the course today.

  6. Hey Todd. I purchased the Maxvert driver a couple of months ago. One of my golfing partners said I was hitting my old driver (Taylor made SIM 2) further. So I replaced the max vert with my Sim 2. I was a little disappointed and surprised at the same time. I’m hitting the Taylor made about 40 yards further than the maxvert. Is there any chance I can return it? I’m disappointed because I thought this would be the answer to getting more distance with my driver.

  7. Absolutely agree that too many YouTube videos promote a wider stance. When I try it, I get inconsistent ball striking and restricting backswing. Narrow that stance!

  8. Definitely a golf tip designed for me Todd! As an experienced golfer, I have definitely lost length to my backswing because of an occasional hip issue. Your suggestion of flared toes and a better hip turn and body rotation should help as well as taking my arms back to shoulder height. Always learning from your video's Todd! Keep up the good work!

  9. Great video as always Todd I have been hitting my driver better lately straight or a fade ( experienced lefthanded golfer) I hit a 200 yard drive on hole 5 last week which is my best distance with driver to date I’d be ecstatic if I can get to 250 at nearly 76 years I think would be awesome I play tomorrow and Thursday I let you know how it goes Thanks for all your help

  10. Jesse from Elk Grove, CA. Just under two years of golfing experience and I appreciate the simplicity of your instruction.

  11. I used my radar last night. Driver speed is now consistently under 70mph. Went to the range this morning. Couldn't hit a drive over 150 yards. I tried 4 different drivers. From Noblesville, Indiana.

  12. Hi Todd tnx very much for your tuition it's Arnie here from South Africa
The hip rotation is indeed a big plus to my golf swing I think of my belt buckle turning on the way back and turning to the left on the downswing this has improved my contact enormously
    And simplifies the swing
Thanks again best wishes from South Africa

  13. Really enjoy watching your tips and videos. Was just curious where and how I could get information on in person lessons from you? I'm from Iowa.

  14. Went from shooting 90 plus first 3 rds this year. Did those adjustments and I'm back to a 10 handicap after 8 rounds. Gotta keep playing. High 70's looking very possible.!

  15. Watching from Windsor, Ontario, Canada and I played golf with my 80 year old father today and he shot 89 and he wasn't happy with that. He's 80 but he's in great shape and he has a nice, easy golf swing and routinely shoots in the low 80's! But more importantly, it was a really nice day here, the weather was perfect and we had a great time out there and that's what it's all about! Great tips, great channel and keep up the great work!

  16. Can’t get enough of all your tips! Only issue is with my new driver where I average about 80 plus or minus 2 swing speed and about 197 plus or minus 2 yards average total distance drives with my new Rogue Regular Shaft Callaway Driver. I love all your Driver tips for the “Experienced Golfer” and eventually would love to avg about 210 yards on my drives. BTW 66 yrs old. 😂Watching from Lodi, Ca.

  17. Todd, Love my new Maxvert 1 driver. Recently converted to senior clubs (age 76) and disliked the oversized driver with the new set. I previously had been playing with a 1960s vintage Arnold Palmer "Personal" golf set, persimmon woods included, gifted to my late father by Arnold's business manager (long story there) purely out of sentiment. I can now enjoy the game again as an active member of a senior recreational league. Thanks again for your devotion to coaching us senior players with easy to follow no nonsense ideas.

  18. OK Todd, which hype am I to believe? The Maxvert or the Monza for my 65mpn swing, 5'5" stature, and 86 yr old bold.

  19. Hi Todd, I'm originally from RI but have been living in Florida the last 3 years. Love all the advice and tips! I was having trouble on the fairways but after purchasing the Maxvert 22 and 18 degree hybrids you were right, they are much easier to hit and get off the ground with distance than my older ones. My Maxvert Driver arrived today and I cannot wait to go to the driving range and try it out tomorrow. I will let you and everyone know how I make out. Thanks! Bob

  20. Hey Todd, Neil from the UK here. Experienced golfer who has really been struggling with the driver. Big pulls left as a result of not transferring weight off the back foot as my stance was too wide meaning I couldn’t move the weight back away from the right foot. Narrowed my stance and I turn through so much better and the drives are so much better with no loss in distance. Thanks

  21. Hello, I am from Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada and have been watching your most informative videos for some time. I watched this video with interest and have to say that I've tried using a long swing vs a short swing. I know I should be using a long swing. However, I have found two issues with this (1) Torquing and turning this much bothers my back…even with a closed stance and (2) I seem to be able to generate more power with a shorter swing and I also tend to be able to square the club face better using a shorter swing. Maybe if I practiced using the a longer swing this would work itself out?? I don't know….just my experience so far.
