Should the Indiana Pacers trade for Pascal Siakam?

Alex and Facci get into the latest rumblings of the Pacers rumored interest in Toronto’s veteran power forward, Pascal Siakam. The guys weigh the pros and cons to trading for Pascal and share a handful of trade ideas to closeout the show to try and figure out what it would take to get a deal done that makes both sides happy.

  1. I agree with Alex allll the way. Great young squad and Pascal doesn’t move the needle the way people would think. Pascal is set to make $35+ million this season. Pacers have about $7 million in cap space remaining (give or take). Even if you give up Nembhart, Indy still has to include some big salaries to make the money match (Turner and Hield contracts seem to come close to Pascal’s contract). Pascal is already overrated (in my opinion) and will come in thinking he is the man and that will ultimately stunt the growth of Walker and Toppin.

Let these Pacers play and leave Pascal where he is.

If we are talking OG, I’m willing to listen a bit more. 🤷🏿‍♂️🤣🤣

  2. Commenter above summed it up perfectly. I would be way more interested in OG than an expiring siakam. Obviously for the right price it would be interesting, but we don’t really have the right pieces to get us over the hump of a championship with the roster we have now. This would put us back into playoff purgatory territory, and probably set back our rebuild while also stunting growth of either Toppin (who is still an unknown commodity at this point), Nwora, and Walker, . In the words of Randy Jackson, “it’s a no from me dog”

  3. No to Siakam. We good at PF. We need a wing. If we called about Siakam, I hope Pacers asked about OG as well. Siakam wants to stay in Toronto. They should keep him and trade OG. In thinking about what the Raps may take back, Nembhard, Nesmith, Nwora, Smith, and the Nuggets first rounder next year.

  4. Fellas dope podcast I luv it. Sakamoto is 29 not 31 also I'd do Buddy, Isiah Wong, Obi, and 2024 1st rd pick

  5. Anyone willing to give up Nembhard at ~$2 mil/ yr for the next few seasons for a 1 year rental at $35-$40 has lost their mind. Siakam doesn't even want to play here, and he will be gone after a year. And if Siakam is too old for Toronto, he's too old for Indiana's young core. And say Siakam changes his mind and wants to stay; the amount of cash he'd want as he is moving out of his prime would be absurd. Wait a year and see if OG wants to come to Indiana without losing anything. Do not lose your sanity and entertain this nonsense with Siakam.

  6. Pascal is the difference between us being a play-in team and like the 5th or 6th seed in the East and honestly with Buddy being on an expiring deal We could trade Buddy, Nembhard, Theis and 2-3 picks and I think that would land us Siakam. Which really isn't as much as people think for a guy who would give Tyrese a bonafide #2 scoring option. Besides Nembhard is a starting PG on most teams in the NBA and chances are we'll have to let him walk at some point anyway.

  7. I'm not interested in Siakam, you have to get him for a protected 27 Top 10 pick or lottery protected tops. A few seconds and Theis, Nwora and Jackson or Smith..

  8. If that's not enough then show me a trade for OG and it's picks, no more than 2 protected and a couple 2nds.. and no Mathurin, Hali, Turner, Obi..

  9. If siakam isn’t hearing extension offers then this convo is pointless. Keep what we have for sure. I’d say if we can just upgrade from turner then we would be so good in a few years.

  10. We need shooting. Period. If he shot like Paul George and got steals like Paul George did at age 29 – I’d trade for him lol. We need a true 3/D SF

  11. There's negotiations happening right now between Boston and Siakams agent. Stay tuned for further details as they emerge.

  12. do not trade for Siakam before the season starts … he's barely a top 50 player and the asking price will be higher before season than midseason …. we CANNOT give up Nembhard … he's special

  13. There’s no world where I’m giving up Nembhard for Siakam or OG. He showed so much promise last year and it’s not like we have a guy behind Halliburton who I feel even good about. Need to keep this core together. Do NOT give up one of our young controllable pieces for an expiring contract

  14. As a raptors fan, i can see siakam fitting the hawks a lot better than pacers. Hawks have Trae and siakam's game will complement his game a lot.

  15. Jalen Smith, TJ and Buddy Love for Siakam

    Center: Turner, Obi
    PF: Siakam, Jarace
    SF: Brown, Neismith
    SG: Mathurin, Sheppard
    PG: Tyrese, Nembhard
