Behind the scenes of Daniel Ricciardo’s replacing of Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri



Daniel Ricciardo replaces Nyck de Vries at Alpha Tauri! Is this the comeback that he has been dreaming of?

In a recent statement from Alpha Tauri it was announced that that Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo will be replacing Nyck de Vries at Alpha Tauri for the 2023 F1 season!

NOTE: Daniel was with McLaren for two seasons, 2021 and ‘22.

There a lot of questions circling the situation at the moment so let me explain to you my thoughts on the situation and how it will play it out. In this video I will cover everything from why Nyck de vries was dropped, why Ricciardo was chosen over a rookie, Daniel Ricciardo’s Silverstone tyre test and much more.

    People keep saying that if he screws this up his career is over and the certainly true. But if he doesn't drive his career is over anyway. So it's worth a shot. Especially if he's feeling good about himself right now. Last throw of the dice for him. Here's hoping it comes up trumps.

    Everyone is in a hot hurry to stab Checo in the back. First the rumor was Ricciardo, then Tsunoda and now LeClerc. They are talking to everyone and there's a rumor for each.

    When Daniel takes over from Perez in Red Bull, he has to realise that this time, he's the #2 driver, he's expected to come 2nd, behind Max.

    with the noises about selling then not selling AT. Its pretty clear Helmut Marko has one goal here. Dan is to get AT off the bottom rung and gets points so they don't finish last. Even one rung higher is worth millions. In no way is this a pathway to a RB seat for Dan – not at all – he's being used. It will also benchmark Yuki and the car with a clear idea of all the variables. So at the end of the season they can decide what to do with AT. Since the other teams have copied RB. AT will now be allowed to copy RB without punishment. The precedent has been set. AT traditionally has used the alternate design ideas, low downforce stuff, they wouldn't put on the RB. the new AT, will be very close to RB in 2024. With either Dan and Lawson, Yuki and Dan, or if Dan gets soundly beaten by Yuki which is possible, yuki has been killing it. Lawson and Yuki… Dan might still go to HAAS in 2024…

    Red Bull's ruthlessness goes back quite a few years as far as how they have treated their drivers. For a while they were known as a team that destroyed very good young drivers like Jaime Alguersuari, Jean-Eric Vergne and Sebastien Buemi. Helmut Marko hit the jackpot with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, but a lot of other drivers have paid a heavy price.

    It was a fast career for Nick, he should stay with Toto in Mercedes waiting for a seat in Williams but Albon is racing lately as a lion. Maybe Indy Cart or NASCAR would work out for this guy.

    I don't think Daniel deserves this ride. He's had plenty of opportunities with other teams, e.g, Red Bull, Alpine, McClaren, and wasn't successful. Alpha Tauri should have stayed with Nyck, called up one of the young Red Bull drivers or even considered Alex Palou from Indy Car. This is definitely Daniel's last chance to get back to a top tier team. I just don't think he can do it nor does he deserve the opportunity. He definitely doesn't need the money.

    Great news for Daniel, sad for Nyck but that's racing, but as an avid Aussie it will be fantastic to see him back. Will you be doing your famous autographed photo prints with Daniel either in his Alpha Tauri or in his new racing suit? Would sell like hot cakes. I will definitely be buying one.

    Very ironic Daniel turned down Haas because he doesn't want to race from the back where Alpha Tauri is now.

    Ricciardo is a great driver, but the AT is a soapbox. He will not score points, its just not possible with that car. Nyck was send home to quick.

    is it true that alpha tauri will change its name next year? i tought the purpous of that name was to promote the second brand created by red bull.

    riccardo is a nonsense. Too much of a clown to be a safe bet as a world champion so he should not have been given another go, Ditch him and enter him on the comedy circuit.
