    35:12 Fan Questions

  2. Thanks for answering my question lads. I’ve been a long time listener and supporter of your podcast here in QLD (Lions fan) and have always admired watching you and the Eagles over the years. I still remember watching you stream down the Chris Mainwaring wing at Subi in the 2012 derby and kick one of the goals of the year.

One more question for you Schoey.

I’ve heard you mention a couple times over the years on Backchat and other media streams that the away rooms at the Gabba are the worst in the league, but I don’t recall you ever going into detail about why.

First off, are you referring to the cricketing rooms AKA the Hamish Brayshaw rooms that were used during Covid for the neutral games, or are you referring to the regular away rooms on the Stanley Street side of the ground? If referring to the cricketing rooms, this is understandable as they were never setup or intended for AFL use and were only used for a brief period of time during COVID to accomodate games between interstate teams.

I vaguely remember you said they smelled horrible, but what else?
I’d be interested to know from a playing point of view why this is the case.

I’ve toured MCG, Adelaide Oval and Optus Stadium and the facilities are all state of the art so I can understand why the Gabba’s rooms aren’t up to the level of the bigger and newer venues.

It won’t be long until we have a brand new Gabba (being built for the 2032 Olympics) that will no doubt be a night and day difference on the current one.
