Alex Albon Interview After FP2 at 2023 Silverstone #BritishGP #F1

Following the FP1 and FP2 rounds of the 2023 British GP at Silverstone, Williams driver Alex Albon reflected on a surprisingly successful Friday.

Contrary to his expectations, Albon found himself within the top three rankings. This was a welcome surprise as the team hadn’t deviated from their usual preparation process. The key to their success, Albon suggested, was their new upgrade which demonstrated its effectiveness on high-speed tracks for the first time.

Despite the strong winds that created challenging conditions, Albon felt his team had a handle on it. While he admitted the weather conditions weren’t ideal, the fact that the Williams car was outperforming others suggested they were managing the situation better than most.

Speaking about the potential for race day, Albon stated that it was a matter of striking a balance in all speed types and corners. Fine-tuning would still be necessary, but he emphasized that the focus was on Sunday’s race pace. Considering the potential for wet conditions during tomorrow’s race, Albon hoped for similar weather to what they experienced today.

While Albon admitted that their race pace on hard tires was satisfactory but not extraordinary, he stated that the different compound used this weekend still posed a learning curve. In a dry Q3 scenario, he was optimistic about their chances but was wary of making predictions too soon.

Overall, Albon expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, and he is looking forward to showing what they can do on race day.

  1. He should have immediately responded with "oh no, it's been a terrible friday for us. We never could get any grip with the tires." Then add a beaming wide smile.

  2. If the pace delta remains for the rest of the season, then I would LOVE to see Lewis in there. Let's get this done!!!

  3. I'm so happy for Alex, we all know he was good, but RB was not a place for him, I hope he gets some big points this weekend, who knows, maybe a podium?

  4. Williams built a rocket while searching for a technical director.. Binotto it will be for sure, James can get him.
