Essendon produced a scintillating attacking first-half display to take a big step towards finals footy with an 18-point victory over fellow top-eight hopefuls Adelaide at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.
With the two sides occupying seventh and eighth coming into the contest, the result was always going to have major top eight repercussions, with Essendon leapfrogging Adelaide, the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda up to fifth on the ladder with the 17.13 (115) to 15.7 (97) win.

Deserved win for the bombers. Crows cannot just rely on Adelaide oval to win games and eventually it comes back to bite them. I know with the poor umpiring in the collingwood game. BUt the bombers were just the better team they played well and they used the ball efficently.

Good win from my boys, a great first half probably ultimately won us the game and we had a pretty average second half but did enough to hold the Crows off and in the end get a pivotal win for us to stay in top 6 contention. Go Dons!
