I think I've watched this promo about 10 times now lol. You haven't seen this stuff since the attitude era.
i have been watching wrestling for my entire life, i was at WrestleMania 3 when i was 3 months old, major fan of the attitude era, and i sadly, stopped watching not too long after the streak died. i revisited quite a few times over the years but really lost interest once the product started to feel like a cheap imitation. the roman push sucked, the 1000+ days of belt holding is really really, tiring and stupid, a waste of a HUGE accolade on a mediocre talent that was shoved into the throats of fans at every turn, boooring. but this? LA Knight…..damn, hes good, really good. ive watched every interview, every moment hes been on screen and noticed several things noones pointed out yet
1 yea he speaks like the rock, punchy and sharp, but did you notice his speech pattern is more like jake the snake, terry funk, or mick foley? pauses and stops on things to emphasize points.
2 his physical conversation isnt just mirroring acts of old, hes bringing back things that have been forgotted, when he points to himself, he does it with a fist and thumb pointed back, like a thumbs up, this was VERY hogan back in the 80s. almost a signature way of doing it, so he could "pop" his biceps in the process.
3 hes got the austin playbook for WHAT?, and hes using it very well. but he doesnt trail off like austin or rock did with thier lines, his voice goes up at the end of YEAH, just like machoman used to.
4 the crowd work, especially the point and let them say his name, thats RVD, if i ever saw it, and jesus its good, noone else on the roster can point and make the fans announce them like the rock used to, until this guy.
i dont want to type all night, but i thought it was interesting that hes got kind of the late 80s, 90s and 00s bottled and hes using so much more of it that a lot of ppl are seeing, or saying.
this man alone has made me come back home, and i thank him for it.
