The home pair were leading Miyaura and Sakuramoto in the final set of the match when the rally began. More than three minutes later, after a jaw-dropping showcase of athleticism and perseverance, Tan produced a well-disguised drop shot, which Sakuramoto could not reach, to seal the point, bringing an incredulous crowd to their feet. The home hopes then went on to seal a 21-17, 18-21, 21-19 victory.

  1. Badminton needs to market itself better. With rallies like that, who needs pickleball?

  2. I was hoping that the ones who lost is the crowd. But they kept cheering too.

  3. Imagine telling people who are overweight and don't want to exercise, "just play badminton. you can lose 50 calories playing a single point!"

  4. The girl who hit the winner was really feeling it after a series of smashes – she could hardly lift her arm up.

  5. This Malaysian pair is one of my favourite… WD pairs., Very fun to watch… Very animated.. as I have seen the match live so this time.
For most of the i was watching the reaction of Malaysian coach rexy Manicy who is himself is an Olympic gold medalist.

  6. So what’s with Malaysian crowds always doing ‘YYYYYYAAA’ before a smash? I found it disturbing

  7. Holy moly! That is like a month's worth of working out for me. Past the midway mark they must have been driving on reflexes alone.

  8. Outstanding. As a teenager I played competition level badminton, and I find plays like this exhilarating. A great show for the spectators.
