JOMEZ OFFICIALLY ACQUIRED! (WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU)

In this video, I bring you the top changes to the biggest disc golf channel, Jomez after being acquired by the Disc Golf Pro Tour. These are massive changes that will probably not have an immediate change in viewing experiences when you watch Paul McBeth or Kristin Tattar dominate a round on Jomez but could over the course of a couple years.

  1. I’d be more willing to pay for Jomez consolidated top level coverage with better commentary than the live, which will inevitably be the case now. I love being able to watch every thing I need to see in around an hour rather than sitting through 4 sub par, sometimes choppy hours of it. One of the biggest appeals of Jomez was that it was a passion project that grew and grew every year into the product it is today. These guys made this channel because they loved to do it and it showed in the videos. DGPT feels like something that was made to take advantage of a hole in the market. Collect the money and put out a passable product . I really hope they don’t ruin Jomez. I love that the sport is growing and golfers and media faces of the sport are able to make a good living off of it, but it’s sad to see money kinda ruin these pioneering staples of the sport. Now Im off to go buy a 25 dollar disc I used to get for 15. Yay disc golf!

  2. Why are so many comments against paying for a subscription? It's nothing… Only $12 per month. You can barely eat lunch for that amount these days. You could throw away $12 and never know it. It's such a small sport compared to the big sports that it makes sense that someone has to pay for it. Disc golf will never generate the same revenue as big sports.

  3. Without post produced footage, i dont think I would watch. I definitely don’t have the time to watch a 4 hour snoozefest on live… not gonna pay $15 a month, thats for sure

  4. I love gk pro and central coast! They all have thier strengths. I watch them often! A monopoly in the disk gold world will only crush disk golf. Just like inova did for many years!

  5. One thing you said that I wouldn't want to see is Big Sexy live commentary. That would mean Jerm and Nate not competing in the tournament. Or even Uli. Part of what makes Jomez great is the post production commentary. How they talk about the conditions on the course or different things they personally experienced. If that changes the product will absolutely suffer.

  6. The main thought is, "quit trying to sell me back the sport I love." I love the everyday nature loving individuals you can meet on the course. A couple of discs and you go to any state and step on a tee pad without a dollar in your pocket. Most of the players leave the place nicer/cleaner than they found it. I have no problem walking away from viewership if they further monetize the sport.

  7. sticking around for the worlds giveaway trip then no more founders club…..DGN is barely holding on to my subscription with their shootey pixelated coverage

  8. If Jomez becomes pay-to-watch and goes live-only, that may be the day I stop watching disc golf, I'll just go back to being a player. However if the DGPT has some sense (remains to be seen) and Jomez now covers ALL MAJORS AND SILVER SERIES post produced, I'm suddenly watching MORE disc golf. I guess we shall see.

  9. I absolutely agree with you. I think the real winners will be the small disc golf YouTubers who make non-tour related content or commentary on the tour like your channel.

  10. I was just thinking how much this would suck. I don’t pay for live coverage for any sporting events. MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA all included. I also canceled my Netflix years ago. If what you’re saying happens then I will just not be watching the pro tour anymore. But on a major plus side, this really opens the door for the content creators. It could make it more of a sought after commodity. Time will tell.

  11. If your favorite disc is also your most lost disc , are you in a toxic relationship. Asking for a friend ?

  12. I hope DGN doesn’t change anything. If they turn it in to what they already have during Live, we will need a new JOMEZ to sprout.

  13. Disc golf network sucks at coverage and they put up highlights before the rounds come out. So annoying

  14. This subject came up at our league this week. Out of all the people in our league about 30% don't really watch pro disc golf at all. The other 70% watched free next day coverage to at least some extent. No one paid for DGN and everyone agreed that while they love playing disc golf, they would absolutely never pay to watch it. I think DGPT and DGN are overestimating how many people are willing to pay to watch disc golf. I think they are forgetting how this sport literally became popular almost overnight. During COVID people swarmed to disc golf because it was free and not limited by lockdown like many other activities. And guess what, now that all that mess is behind us, people have lots more options for outdoor activities and can easily walk away from disc golf as quickly as they ran towards it a few short years ago. I love playing disc golf and I watch every coverage that Jomez does, but will absolutely never pay to watch any disc golf coverage. Also like someone else mentioned, the current 4 hour, jumping from card to card, coverage that DGPT is doing is horrible!! I cannot even watch that garbage. The moral of the story is that DGPT needs to be careful how they proceed. I feel like we are close to seeing a mass exodus of current disc golf watchers as a result of greed from the DGPT and DGN. While disc golf is super fun to play, it is not the most exciting sport to watch and trust me, people will have no issue walking away from watching the sport and just spend more time playing instead.

  15. More hyperbole…. There’s a lot of guessing in this information as there is with a lot of posts about this.

  16. invest 100-200k in some better live streaming capacity by DGN. Their product is trash and I won't pay for it in its current form.

  17. Don't expect Jomez to remain free for much longer. I'll be surprised if free coverage last beyond this season. Jeff Spring won't be satisfied until ALL free access is eliminated. DGPT and DGN are ONLY interested in $$$$$.
