I Play The Open’s Newest Hole – Royal Liverpool’s 17th

With the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club just weeks away, I got to play their new 17th hole with Links Manager James Bledge.

For the 151st Open Championship, the best players in the world could play this hole as short as 120 yards in length! What do we all think? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Also please let me know what videos you’d like to see on my channel. We have so many videos coming soon.

  1. Great looking hole good bunker shot Iona i cant wait to watch the course and tournament in a few weeks time. This is a cool series great work ❤❤❤❤

  2. This is why courses, even at Tour level, don’t have to be 7000+ yards long. Just throw in a couple of tricky par 3s. IMO (having not asked everyone 😂) spectators would rather see an artistic wedge into a P3 than the Pros smashing a 4 iron 230. At the US Open, was there not a 290 yard par 3 ? I get the skill required to hit a green from 290 or get up and down is immense but it’s not as subtle!

  3. It’s going to be a very challenging Open this year, thanks Iona 🙏🙏🙏⭐️⭐️⭐️

  4. Great content Iona , I think it used to play as the 15th in the opposite direction on the original layout – hope all is well 😊

  5. Great looking hole, but not quite sure about having so many fairway bunkers that short of what is such a short hole, doubt they will actually come into play very often?

  6. Excellent!!
Looking forward to your commentary at the 151st Open Championship….
Will Royal Liverpool top last year's celebrations at St Andrews 150th?
    Hope so 😅

  7. FINALLY!! It's about time that you made another video. Only problem is that you don't make them often enough. I love your segments. Please do more. Your latest golf with Rick Shiels was great.

  8. Love the review Iona, what a great challenging hole. What a shot from the trap , loved it…can't wait to watch the open now…thank you …

  9. Oh dear, have we now gone for a very silly US style waste/bunker type area ? Don't think it was like that in 2014 ? Looks a very un Open Championship type of hole and out of place ?

  10. Love your content Iona, glad your back. Love me some cool golf stories and that's what you bring us.

  11. So is it basically the old 15th but with tee and green switched around? Or have I misunderstood what rhey've done?

  12. So happy to see/hear you again, Miss Iona! Hope you’re well and rested, and ready to rock the golfing world! ⛳️🫶🏼

  13. I will go on thinking that gilf courses shouldnt become longer and longer fir todays and future pros. It will be a question of design. This hole is an example. Less than 100 yards becoming so difficult.

  14. You were very polite while believing you were looking at the world's most boring new golf hole 🤣

  15. You just know that Just Stop Oil pricks are going to protest every hole in unison at this year's Open.

  16. Iona, similar to your Anstruther video, I love watching you analyse and play deceptively difficult holes or pretty much any hole worthy of a segment. Super inspirational and above all just fun to watch. More please! A true joy to watch.

  17. Can’t wait for the open to start, great insight into the new hole, loved it when he told you to turn around facing the wrong way. 😅

  18. It'd be absolutely wild if they made that hole a stadium design for The Open. But I'm sure that'd also make the winds swirl on the hole which would be pretty entertaining for fans

  19. If that was on our course, I would think those gardens are going to get their fair share of golf balls…. but perhaps NOT in the Open!
