  1. Look, I get it. Betting on yourself and your team to do well is not wrong, but it's a slippery slope to hurting the integrity of the game.

If you start allowing players to bet, they may start betting on themselves, but soon they could start betting on their team to lose or their team to give up passing yards or under on offense and can affect the outcome by simply not performing their best.

The NFL could have a department where players can bet but only bet on themselves and their team to perform or on other teams that you aren't playing that week. Essentially a gambling broker that limits the bets the players can or can't make.

  2. sponsored by DraftKings

just let them do it, sports betting is everywhere online now

  3. He said maybe he was being such a good teammate he decided to bet the over🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  4. Unfortunately for him he was early in his career (drafted in 2020 I think) and still had many years ahead of him. However, imagine getting into something for 3 years, and coming out with a net worth of $6M dollars, money that most will never see in their lives. Doubt he will be eating spam sandwiches. He will be just fine.

  5. It should simply be.. don't bet on the NFL… period. Any rule trying to govern anything outside the NFL is just dumb.

  6. If I'm a player who is suspended I would launch an investigation into how I was found out and if every player who bet was found. Because they weren't. There are dozens more and the league has buried it to save face.

  7. Me (with a background in network security): “Why aren’t they using a VPN on their phones? They would’ve never been caught.” 😂😂😂

  8. I wonder how he got caught ? I’m sure it happens way more then pro sports will admit. Might even be easier in basketball

  9. Agreed and great point if Rodgers was betting the over he owes it to everyone that’s ever supported him to come out and say it was the over/provide slip. Helps him too to confirm he’s not a total fraud.

  10. I think the mass wave of suspensions and, in this case, indefinite, SHOULD put the fear of God into players. I expect more to come soon.

  11. just uninformed morons.

get off your phone during the league presentation… pay attention and nflpa meetibgs…..costing yourselves millions to probably lose money gambling lol

  12. If you did that with stocks, you’d go to PRISON. It’s the equivalent of insider trading. These players have an unfair advantage over other bettors in that they have access to crucial information about a given game that the public does not.

  13. Imagine losing a multimillion dollar career for a $1k bet.. Addiction should not be glorified, he gave up generation wealth for a 1k bet

  14. This is what we in the hood call "Hustling backwards"

The most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in folks who already got the bag.

  15. Imagine NFL can get millions from the betting companies but the players can't bet scraps for fun.

  16. It kills me the way pat pronounces his "a"'s. He says "Gombling". Ugh it drives me crazy lol

  17. Even if he did bet over, there are plenty of ways that can cause problems. What happens if he bets over on the spread and he’s facing a TD with a lead and 30 seconds left? Does he score or slide? What if he needs to get out of bounds but needs 2 more yards to get over? You could spend all day thinking up totally plausible and routine scenarios where “betting on yourself” (or your team) is not purely a positive motivating thing.
