Slow play is something in golf that annoys any golfer, a senior golfer, a new golfer, beginner golfer, amateur golfer, professional golfer, whether you are playing with your golf mates, watching professional golf on sky sports, cbs, on youtube with the likes of good good golf, rick shiels.. you name it! No golf fan wants to see slow play in golf.

The golfing world is even more furious at pga tour golfer over shameful slow play but why was the play so slow, how slow was it and what actually happened. Find out in this breaking golf news video and breaking news story.

  1. If possible allow players to get to their ball on the fairway and begin their pre-shot routine regardless of who goes first. My foursome always does this when possible to speed up play especially if we are first out.

  2. In any circumstance the only people that should be allowed on the putting surface during play is the guys cutting the grass and the player holding the putter and making the shot. If a professional golfer cannot read a put and make a decision on the line of a put he should go back to the tour school.

  3. With aim point imagine a 50 foot putt and the caddy walking the whole 50 feet to feel the slope 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  4. Caddies should not be able to read puts, as an armature we are not allowed any help in a medal round 🤬

  5. The time limit should be the main consideration. Whether the caddy or player does the calculations doesn't matter. Just time in my opinion. The footprint point is silly. Every 2some walks around with no idea where the next group will be putting. The slow player should be the only one "on the clock" if determined to be too slow.

  6. Alex, you’re not at all going overboard here. As I was watching it live I was saying the same things you are. This whole AimPoint bull💩 is even worse than greens books. Both should be banned.

I’m being penalized for a slow play… DJ in his career to this point should have been penalized enough times to finance the economy of a small country. He is ungodly slow. 84 seconds is nothing. In one particular tournament a couple of years ago, I don’t remember which one, I timed him multiple times out of frustration. He was routinely taking between two and three minutes to play a shot. On the final hole of the tournament he had a fairly long putt of 30+ feet. It took him 3 1/2 minutes from the time he reached his ball on the green until the time he putted the ball. Then it was Jon Rahm’s turn, who had about a 25 or 30 foot putt with about 8 feet of break on it… a much more difficult putt than DJ had. Rahm took about 30 seconds, made the putt, and I believe won the tournament. (And no, he was not walking around surveying his putt while DJ was doing his thing). DJ has been getting special treatment in this regard for a long time.

  7. I have to agree. I think caddies doing aim point for their player is going too far. Seeing it when I'm watching the PGA on TV…. I was like WTF is this? I don't think caddies should on the greens. If you want to stand on the fringe and give your player a little read once in a while on a tough putt…. fine, but watching all these caddies, basically doing what the player should be doing is a joke. Especially with aim point. What's next? We going to have caddies taking putts for players? LOL. I hope the PGA does something. I don't want to watch caddies doing aim point for 18 holes.

  8. Was Richard Bland supposed to shove the other players caddies out of the way who were using range finders when they got to the tee? Maybe they should wait until it is their players turn? Katrek and Maginnes were saying how much of a joke that penalty was when I was listening to them yesterday, maybe post the twitter link or show it in your video so everyone can decide if it was unfair? Agree with caddies on the green though, Fleetwoods does that alot too. Just seems like a lot of penguins shuffling down the green.

  9. another great video! – footprints are the worst enemy of a rolling ball, and a major cause of missed putts – to a golf ball, a footprint is similar to a human walking along and tripping over a curb – the less footprints the better – you can't "tap down" a footprint – i agree with what everyone said here – no aim pointing from caddies – no aim pointing between your ball and the hole – period!

  10. Is CM suffering from the Yips? Caddies should have no business helping with puts on the green.

  11. Does his caddie burp him after he eats too? Hit the ball. You don't need to set up camp and really get to know the shot.

  12. The caddy is the caddy nothing more . He should as Justin said not allowed on the green or allowed to read the green the player is the one competing not him!

  13. This gets to my point about speed, if your putt is not inline with another players, you have 30 seconds to putt your ball from the time the last players ball is holed or marked.

  14. Tom Watson always said to walk the line…same concept but standing around it…caddy in tennis shoes won't leave spike marks…he was putting for a potential win and his caddy was probably trying to slow him down…welcome to professional sports…kind of like a timeout for a qb…a player falling down in football…or a player faking an injury in soccer/football towards the end …give him 5 seconds to breathe. Gees

PS…I think aim point is silly…not a lot of the better putters use it…aimpoint is too much science. Putting is a balance of science (green reading & line) and art (the speed)

  15. Should ban caddy's from reading greens totally. That would solve alot of problems!

  16. My biggest problem with this is , how many other lines did he trample on here that close to the hole? Come on man!! That’s ridiculous. I know golf etiquette concerns mostly the players in your group but just like fixing a ball mark you made for the next guy, footprints need to be addressed. Especially if they’re that close to hole and standing for a few seconds. WTF!?

  17. First off the comment that said you should only be able to check for slope behind the ball defeats the purpose. The player and his caddie are a team however a lot of the rituals performed are useless. And the laying down on the green with the palms down and the toes the only contact point can affect the surface. The PGA needs to enforce time limits and not show favoritism to certain players ( Dustin Johnson can take more than 84 seconds at times). And you never hear a word. Remember to over analyze is to paralyze.

  18. Lol caddies should be allowed to give verbal ideas only. As fair as standing infront of the player this could give the players visual ideas too. This needs to be banned immediately. I hat the aim point technique of putting. Players need to be put on a strict clock so there isn't enough time to be walking around putts and feeling the green with your feet.

  19. Until they start assessing penalty shots, it’s never going to end. This causes you to lose matches not monetary penalties.

  20. Why not just give these guys a range finder? I mean, fans don't care if they can do the math or not. Fans just want to see player's athleticism and creativity. And I just hate those caddies that stand behind the ball simulating putts. Lastly, players can also do their yardage while their opponents are hitting their ball. Seen so many of these guys waiting until the other player hits and then go about getting their yardage, discussing, getting clubs…

  21. What I hate is how this behavior trickles done to the amateur level. I recently played with a fellow who would look at each putt from both sides of the hole, then use aim point and finally would align the line on his ball multiple times. This process would start only when it was his turn, all this from a 16 handicapper. Everyone’s experienced this type of behavior but my question is should something be said to the player? I never feel at the time that I can have a kind and meaningful discussion. Any suggestions?

  22. Whatever that feet thing is that some golfers have been doing shouldn't be allowed. They're compressing the ground, essentially creating a visual path to the hole… it's especially ridiculous now that we see the caddies compressing the ground for their golfer. It's kind of weird that everyone seems to pretend that this is not what they're doing, but it's blatantly obvious (the golfers and their caddies proceed to stand heavy footed and then step a half foot ahead and stand heavy footed again and repeat… but the actual reason for this is to create visual foot compression, creating a path to the hole. This is why it's bad golf etiquette to stand in someone's line if you have a short put to tap in. It boggles my mind that this is allowed, because it's essentially legal cheating at this point.

  23. Some players mark and adjust their ball when they have a 2’ or less putt. Just tap it in! We do it all the time!
I agree with the caddy staying back more. Millions of players don’t have caddies and gave to read greens on their own. Let’s see these elite players do the same.

  24. Ok, it would not bother a putt this short, BUT if the putt was longer and he stood like that he could actually be standing in the line his player will be putting over, then they might have to stop and repair all the spike marks left by his own caddie trying to help him with the aim point
