I Recreated The 5 Best Shots Of My Career

We’re back at Cue Tips HQ and this time we’re recreating Stephen’s 5 greatest shots of his career, according to his autobiography. We set the balls up in the exact same way as these incredible shots and Stephen talked through them in detail. Noting the pressure on the shots, the meaning behind them and his feelings after making them. You could even have a go at recreating them yourself! Are there any other shots from Stephen’s career that you would have put in here? Let us know in the comments!

  1. The last black pot i remember i watched it in news bulletin in Pakistan (now i live in UK). I was thrilled and so happy you won the championship. Big fan.

  2. I don’t understand how he got £160,000 pounds on a 157? before the tournament was completely finished.??

  3. Stephen is elite mentally. All those stories where he's down and could've been thinking of home but thinks optimistically that he has a chance and that his opponent might wilt. Always positive, never out of it.

  4. Charisma, insightful advice, historical information, intelligent observations. Class from Stephen Hendry.

  5. This is what made you so scary to play against. You were fearless and it seemed like you didn’t think of the consequences if you missed a certain shot. That brown you potted to get on the yellow was ridiculous, considering the circumstances and what would have happened if you missed it. This is what separated you from the rest. My idol growing up.

  6. You mentioned about bigger pockets in old days, but what do you think about pocket size in world championship 2023 ? They looked huge and very easy.

  7. £167,000 resting on one shot, you could probably buy an eastern block country for that back in 1995

  8. The long shot for the red was the "Hendry shot". No one before you had made long pots like that and made them look easy. 100% confidence and no small amount of skill. It's funny – my cousin used to play in the same snooker club as you in Kirkie and I used to complain when I couldnt get the "posh" room in the snooker club I went to in Wishaw, because of a certain Mr Higgins lol. it shows that these clubs in Scotland could indeed have world class players coming up – which is why its so important that they stay open.

  9. The blue vs Davis was closer to the cushion than the shot recreated here, albeit bigger bags then.

  10. Cue Tips I love it when Steven takes us down Memory Lane and let's us into his mindset of his amazing career great stuff 5 stars.

  11. Stephen, this would have been better if you’d shown the actual clips, footage and commentary of each particular shot, alongside your recreation.

    Constructive criticism.

  12. I actually didn't know the pockets were bigger than they are now but one thing I know for sure snooker pockets are smaller than pool table pockets

  13. He talks about the amount of money on the line for that final black in the 147. What he doesn't mention is that amount of money as a proportion of the money he'd already won in his career. I'd bet that if he was a journeyman pro that pocket would have seemed a lot smaller!

  14. Would be wonderful to also see original shots as well. Great stuff Stephen.

  15. Loved watching your rivalry with Steve Davis back in the day, love the little digs at him in your videos, and love that you're the best of friends these days. It's great when you have him on the channel… so many stories.

  16. Me and my partner went to the final of the Liverpool Victoria charity challenge Steven was 8 -2 up ! We went expecting to see Stephen win and what a fabulous match it turned out to be ! A 147 in the last frame ! Amazing comeback by Stephen

  17. Have you tried the Murphy behind the black red in the middle snooker escape/pot ? How difficult is it as a no sighter one off ? Did he have a choice ?

  18. I’ll never forget that maximum to win 9-8. One of the best sporting performances I’ve ever seen. I even got other family members watching who didn’t like snooker. It was magic. Absolutely magnificent.

  19. that blue with the rest is probably the best shot, given the circumstances, I've ever seen from any player.

  20. I love that he isnt humble about it. These were great shots, and he was just and animal under pressure, and he knows it

  21. He is superb under pressure. But I remember the fairly easy black decider of the Master against Mark William was painful loss for him.

  22. Would have been an idea to actually show us the real shots instead of just explaining it…..

  23. All great shots. That blue along the rail in the UK final was simply incredible. It was another nail in the coffin of Steve Davis’s reign and the beginning of Hendry’s dominance.x

  24. Used to hate mister Davis. Love him these days.
Used to hate mister Hendry. This channel after his match commentary has totally changed my mind, and now I love him too.
Jimmy I used to love, now…

  25. Really enjoying your videos Stephen 🙏💦 Brown was the shot, brilliant 👍🏼 what a session of snooker the best ever 👍🏼
