  1. I'm curious who "Mr. Labonte" is. Terry would have been in Cup then. Bobby was in Busch but was it their dad?

  2. Im old enough to have watched both John and Robbie race. They were both talented drivers. I remember the Slinger opener he mentioned as his was the only team with an enclosed trailer, when everyone else was still using open trailers. I do get a kick out of hearing all these people got intimidated in DEs presence..he once approached me ( bgn crew member) and tried his 'gotcha' deal, but without trying I turned it around on him and he ended up being amused, as I got that smirk.

  3. Listening to this on Spotify while commuting and found this to watch over supper. Fantastic guest! Great episode

  4. I remember having a meeting at Roush and Robbie joined the meeting. I was totally intimidated and star struck and he was the nicest damn guy I ever met. This podcast ranks amongst the top of my all time favorites.

  5. He needs to get the drivers that came out of Wisconsin and ASA racing together for a roundtable discussion. Matt, Mark Martin, Kenny, Rusty to talk about the differences and how the short tracks helped them.

  6. At Sears Point early 90s I tried to get an auto from your dad Dale, and I dropped the sharpie and your dad basically said “I ain’t got time for this” lol I think he was just having a bad day, it was a road course. I never did get his auto, but I got one from Rusty!! I don’t blame him.

  7. A hung throttle at Milwaukee in that era could have ended very, very badly. Glad the driver came out of it okay.

  8. Sometimes what you don’t know, ie your ignorance of a situation going into that situation, can be your greatest asset. Think about it, so many folks who went on to greatness have the same story- had we known what we had gotten ourselves into, we’d have never tried it.

  9. You mentioned Hank Parker, have you had Hank Parker Jr. on as a gust? It would be interesting to hear his story.

  10. I grew up in Allenton and my dad Sponsored Robbie, as a 6 year old i sat in his late model at their shop up the road from us. My dad actually broke his ankle when their shop burned to the ground, he was one of the firefighters lol.

  11. For sure every Dale Sr racecar was 100% legit legal. Dale Sr was NOT a cheater, He personally inspected every racecar that he ever. Anything not right, got corrected or he'd refuse to drive it. More than once, he stated that the 1998 Daytona 500 car was the best racecar that he ever drove. He put the team through hell to make sure that racecar was right.

  12. Jr. I remember you wrecking your car in practice at Milwaukee I think 99?You said something like you forgot to turn in turn 1,broke your shoulder.
