THE BIG 3 GOLF MANUFACTURERS ARE NOW IN A RIGHT MESS…

The BIG 3 golf MANUFACTURERS have a huge obstacle to get over! This is the huge reason that we think all the top PGA tour golf professionals should not just use one brand! Over the past 10 years we have seen the top pGA tour professionals paid millions to use JUST ONE brand for example Rory mcilroy & taylormade, Tiger woods and taylormade, Rickie Fowler with cobra! Other huge golf brands like Callaway, PXG, PING, Srixon, Titliest & Mizuno!

Alex & josh talk through the huge reason why the top pga tour professionals should not use one brand and become free agents and choose what driver, irons, wedges & putter they want to use in 2023. That way they get the best golf clubs for them and find the best golf clubs to suit their golf game. THE BIG 3 GOLF MANUFACTURERS ARE NOW IN A RIGHT MESS…

This way we feels golfers will Play better and bring down the cos of golf clubs across the market because right now its getting far to expensive

  1. Most people don’t recall that Mizuno irons were used by 90% of professional golfers prior to the 1990’s. And most club makers copied or duplicated their irons with different brand names on them when “brand names” became sooo important. I’m a golf professional (not a professional golfer) but I won’t play any iron but Mizuno. Grain flow forged and last forever…I still occasionally play my MP37’s and play just as well as newer versions.

  2. The makers haven’t figured out that lots of golfers would go full sets if they were priced better. Literally no point in overspending on any individual club when there’s competition across makers by club but not by full set. PXG almost there when they do their sales, but they’re still a tad too high to gain a true foothold.

  3. My dream bag:
    Woods, Callaway Paradym
    Irons: Mizuno
    Wedges: Vokey
    Putter: Odyssey Stroke Lab Ten

  4. in my bag….
    cobra ltdx driver
    cobra ltdx 3 wood
    taylormade 2009 3 hybrid
cobra forged tec 2020 one length irons 4-pw
    callaway jaws md5 wedges 50,54,58
    taylormade spider x putter….

  5. Good questions about equipment guys. I think most of your everyday golfer can't afford to buy new clubs yearly. That being said, the only opportunity your average golfer would have is to try out demos at a golf range. I play P 790 Taylor made irons a Sim driver. My fitting coach pretty much steered me the way of Taylor Made. Now did he have his own objective at hand or what was a good fit for the golfer he is supposedly fitting? I like my clubs, the Sim driver can be challenging at timed. What I've done was added a Srixon 3 wood a Tour Edge 5 wood and Clevland wedges. It works for me. Again the fitter may only have his or hers best interest at heart.

  6. My understanding is that the clubs the pros play with are customized to their needs. So it really doesn't matter what clubs they play, because they can have them customized to the exact bounce, grind, loft, weight distribution, etc.

  7. The new gear is so overrated! Sub70, PXG, Tacoma are making some seriously good clubs! I still play Hogan Blades from 1999, but would certainly buy some cheaper blades from another manufacturer. I still play an old Ping G400 LST. I have worn out the face almost! I bet it is so worn it is non-conforming.

  8. The only way prices will drop is if consumers move off brand and actually start to look at performance within the bag setup. I don't care what pros hit. I use what works for me. Cleveland cbx wedges wilson irons cobra hybrid callaway driver(wilson dynapower looks like it's replacement)

  9. Ninety percent of golfers spend way too much on golf equipment. I was in golf retail and manufacturing for over thirty years. I can tell you with complete confidence that, if any weekend golfer spends more than $1000 on their entire set and more than $25 per dozen on a box of new balls, they are being foolish. Don't fall for their B.S. advertising. They are playing on your stupidity.

  10. As a free agent, i use Ping G430 LST driver, ping Woods, ping hybrid, mizuno irons, vokey wedges, l.a.b putter

  11. As a normal punter I would say I’m already a free agent lol. So I currently run TM Driver, 3 Wood & Hybrid, Mizuno Irons, Vokey Wedges and a Scotty Cameron Newport 2.

  12. Equipments cost and greens fees are too much especially when you factor the cost of playing 5-6 hour rounds! Sorry used to play but not anymore. Not worth it.

  13. As a former club pro, I contracted to play xyz clubs, balls and clothing. This was all about sales. I stocked and sold the brands I was contracted to. I wasn't restricted to those brands, but, I got better terms, for stocking and selling them. I wasn't paid to use or stock them, just better discount terms, to buy them. The problem is that top players are paid vast sums, to play equipment, which is past on to club golfers, making that equipment more expensive than it should be. This introduces the snob value, of equipment, which ordinary golfers can't afford!

  14. £500+for a driver made for “pennies” just so they can throw money at your players🤔🤔

Nah they can get stuffed, I’ll keep what I’ve got as there’s no way I’d get the improvements (it’s all hype for the average golfer anyway) to make it worth it..

  15. I chuckle when I hear you say there is a difference between golfers needing the money at the bottom and the elite player. If you know people that start to make money, they tend to become driven to get more, and more. Tiger is a billionaire, and Nike paying him hundreds of millions certainly assisted that goal. It would be hard to argue the mediocre quality of Nike equipment helped Tiger's game. If anything, I always felt Nike held Tiger back, but hundreds of millions is hard to ignore. Tiger was arguably the best to play the game yet he chose the Nike cash over precision club and ball selection. And, at the end of the day, how many players are only out there for the chance to become financially vested? If I was a bottom level golfer, I couldn't afford to take the crumbs if they had any potential to interfere with my game's potential. $10K ain't gonna save anyone, but making cuts will – and a driver that's just a little errant could end you.

  16. PXG. I love the PXG driver and the fairway woods. I also have the Gen 5 irons. My putter is a PXG too. I have the Forged wedges from PXG. i really like the Cleveland Zip core wedges too, and would play them, but I hit my clubs really good. I'm a 10 handicap. I'm 67, and probably will play these clubs as long as I can play golf.

  17. I'm full bitzer, and would stay that way – too many compromises if a manufacturers style doesnt fit you – I want what plays to my game – funnily enough, thats resulted in most manufacturers making an appearance: Callaway Driver, TM 3W, Cobra 7W, Mizuno Irons, Vokey Wedges and a Ping putter.

  18. Back in the day as a club pro with Achushnet ,,(Titleist, footjoy, cobra) we used everything they had but during section events I was using what I played what was best for me. Usually Mizuno irons (mp33's) . Nike just copied Mizuno irons and made them for Tiger. So.. I see this happening to some degree.

  19. I'm 50 years old and playing golf since I was nine years old I can tell you right now the industry are pricing themselves out of the market we have golf courses here in the US that are closing left and right golf equipment is too expensive and too play Golf has become too expensive…. Greed…

  20. I keep on hearing about this technology and I can tell you right now I play blade that are 20 plus years old and they rival any of these so-called have a backhand superlite club that have no Mass to penetrate through the balls we have to swing faster and harder which means your accuracy goes down Whitman that are subpar to the pro so you can continue after shaping equipment and to try to play good golf when all you really needed 20 thirty-year-old technology that's been fitted to you

  21. My driver is Callaway
Fairway wood and Hybrid are Wilson
Irons are Sub 70 659 TC
    Wedges are Ping Glide 4.0
    Putter Evenroll

  22. I play Cobra woods, Mizuno hybrid and irons, Titleist wedges and a Bettinardi putter. (4 brands) I never felt one brand was great at all 4 parts of the game. Then again it's a TON of $$$.

  23. The economics of top-shelf golf brands bears little realistic examination. Paying out all this money is the MAIN reason a new driver costs $500 and really does not serve an average amateur well. I'm a 6-handicap and have a broad knowledge of clubmaking, and my 9-club set (yes, that's all I carry…makes the bag lighter!) bears about as much resemblance too a tour player's bag as my game does to his/hers. That's as it should be, becuse my needs and skill level are different from the pro's. I just wish more players would be realistic about this, and I wish the manufacturers would pull their heads out of their a**es and offer realistically-priced clubs for normal golfers. There are a lot of those players, so there is some money to be made!

  24. Im loyal to Nike lol. Sad they dont make clubs anymore. Still using my vr pro combos since 2013. Its been fun hunting for nike stuff online

  25. I got a hot take. Team golf would help lower level guys break in. You could have a role player on a team….and the teams would need to try to farm up lower level guys. Again, hot take but it incentivizes not the PGA but the teams to farm talent and bring them up.

  26. good content guys. keep it up.
side note: careful when making contact with that desk. every time you tap it to "make a point" there is feedback in the audio.

  27. I would go with Ping, Mizuno, Titleist, TayorMade

(Woods, iron, driver, hybrids, and wedges RH)Ping G425 3W, 4H and iCrossover 3i, Mizuno 923 Hot Metal 5-GW, Titleist SM9 56 and 60 also TSR 2 or 3 10.5 TayorMade Spider GT Max LH

  28. Titleist loyalist all 14 clubs for a long time. In the past 3 years switched to Ping G430 driver, Paradym 3hl, Stealth 5 wood, Titleist U505 2 utility iron, Mizuno MP20 HMB-4,5,6 MCB-7,8,9, T20-PW, GW, Taylormade MG3-SW, LW, Odyssey Tour 2-ball Ten and a backup Scotty putter also. All in a Ping cart bag 6 brands 7 if you count Srixon Z-star balls.

Like you said doesn’t matter the name on the clubs it’s what works and the looks you like.

  29. I play Cobra D, 3W, 5W; TM 4,5,6 H; Mizuno 7-GW; Cleveland 54* and 58* wedges with an Odyssey putter. For me, I think each of those are the best in their class.

  30. Love your show but let’s remember that every one of those manufactures that you mentioned make there clubs shafts and clothing along with 80% of all golf equipment in China a Communist country that hates America and all western countries. They wrote the book on child labor and human rights destruction.

  31. Horses for courses , I have Mizuno MP20 iron pricey but faultless in my option for feel and workability , Cobra LTDX driver / 3 wood and 4 Hybrid , Miura putter , Vokey wedges , all pricey except cobra which I feel is the ultimate value for any amateur golfer.
Other mainstream manufacturers are pushing prices to a level Joe public is not prepared to pay , used to use TM but their products are the worst in the world for ageing even after 1 round with a Stealth Plus season before last sole was marked and then I had the dreaded face peel , never again !
They need to understand lower the price and increase the units in the market place , hear what they are saying Adidas / Titleist / callaway !!!!!!

  32. I would and do choose Krank drivers and fairway woods, Cobra Forgetec One Length irons and wedges and a Lab Golf Mezz putter

  33. the brands wont want to take a chance on their clubs being used . can you imagine a situation where their club comes second best and everyone choses the number one club. companies who miss out will very quickly start throwing millions about to get their clubs used.

  34. I think fitting and consumers being more aware is the main factor.
Companies realise we don't care what they (professionals) use.
Also, small bespoke places have popped up with good, niche products. eg Like Smithworks, their wedges aren't for everyone, but they spin and so some people use them.

  35. I think the zooming is distracting, especially until y'all upgrade cameras so the resolution isn't lost with the zoom. Keep up the good work. You're a growing channel and I know because my friend actually mentioned you on the phone yesterday and now I get a recommendation today. Great content and talent!

  36. Alex, I have always believed that there should be a tournament where everyone uses the exact same equipment. Only changes allowed for length to accommodate short and tall players. This would be similar to a “stock car race” where skill is the determining factor. What are your thoughts? All the same down to the ball!

  37. The price of any club will never come down regardless of the cost of endorsement cost for these brands. The standard of pricing has been set and will not go backwards from here.

  38. Would have to be a Japanese produced forging. I don't believe anyone can touch their clubs. Outside of Mizuno do you know any pros playing other brands produced in Japan?
