  1. They are independent contractors, LIV golfers took a chance and got paid! Those that didn’t weren’t willing to do it so no risk, no reward.

  2. Its very simple. Jay Monahan still has a job because the equity owners of the PGAT trust his strategy for the PGAT. Speaking from a business perspective, since this is completely business structured, right now the Saudis have to trust Jay and his teams strategy. To me, that has to be the way this is going. The PIF wants the PGAT tour and the other two tours to do well since they are the parent owner of them, they will have a huge say in who they want running those tours, and the only realistic answer is that they trust Jay Monahan to be the commissioner CEO still. It makes sense, he has been successful all along so its worth giving him a shot after the merger. The only way they replace Jay is if Jay does something really really bad that violates their expectation of him, or they find someone who they believe is a better commisioner/CEO.

  3. I dont understand why the liv players needs to be punished! Are we dealing with kids who where naughty according to the teacher ! U either let them play pga tour or not they didnt do anything wrong other than making there own decisions which growns up should suppose to do

  4. Monohan got paid so he doesn't give a crap what happens or what the players think. What a slimeball!

  5. Why in gods name would the PGA tour players who didn’t go to LIV “be made whole”? It was their choice to not go. They have zero leverage. Stupidest thing I’ve heard. Where are they gonna go play?

  6. Don't need a PGA or LIV. Golfers are show and with a host course, a sack of clubs and a bucket of Titlests, they can organize their own tournaments.

  7. The new 'for profit' structure of the pro game does not match giving those who did not take LIV contracts 'free money' – there is no up side for the new entity and golfers have no leverage to force the issue. They play or they dont play. Nor does it make sense for the tour to make it difficult for LIV golfers to come back. There is no reason for a LIV player to pay a penalty to rejoin the tour – why would they?

  8. Rory and Brooks are now cordial with each other, and if I am not mistaken they recently played a practice round together at one of the majors. As Brooks mentioned in his recent interview there is very little animosity amongst the players. People can still have different opinions and still be mates.

  9. What you may not be considering is that by declining LIV offers Rory in effect paid $200M to maintain his integrity. LIV golfers accepted $200M to lose their integrity. If LIV players come back to PGA they still have no integrity because it's Saudi funded. If Rory plays for the Saudi owned PGA then he loses his integrity so chances are he won't join. I think the way out is for the Saudis to apologise for slaughtering Khashoggi and make reparations to his family, America etc and for them to announce sweeping human rights reforms, in addition to the social reforms they have instigated. Unless that occurs then Rory will walk, and , whoever follows him will form their own tour funded by probably the lesser of evils eg NewsCorp etc. No way Rory and co play for a Saudi funded PGA with Monahan the 2IC.

  10. It seems that everyone assumes that there is going to be punishment for the LIV players, but how can there be punishment when Jay essentially did the same thing they did?

  11. Where does anyone think the money would come from to "make things right" with the players that stayed? Do people really think the LIV founder said in the merger "Here is several billion dollars, Mr. Monahan..take it! It is yours! Do whatever you want! I will have absolutely no say. Go ahead..give half a billion to Rory who was trying to destroy LIV for a year and a half, And give $750 million to Tiger who will likely never lay another round of professional golf again."

Anyone who thinks that Monahan is going to have any way of giving them money are just desperate to try to paint this as a "win" for the PGA when a merger is what LIV wanted from the start.

  12. Pretty sure Rory congratulated Brooks after his most recent PGA championship win? They even hugged?

  13. Stop misinforming and misleading people. It has nothing to do with LIV and it's not a merger. It's a proposed partnership between PGA and PIF. NOT LIV.

  14. I think when a golfer speaks, a tv commentator speaks, a journalist speaks, and a whole lot of YouTubers – you have to ask, "Are these guys thinking that the new organisation may come back and make my life difficult?" With PIFs money why wouldn't they make life difficult if they chose – you won't get actually stoned but…..?

The guts here at Big Boy Pants are some of the few saying it as they hear it. They are the minority.

  15. This merger is CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are ruining professional golf in the United States!! To hell with Saudi Arabia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is not a fascinating time at all, it is bullshit !!!!!!!

  16. It just goes to show that rich and powerful people (no matter from which country) are outright hypocrites when it comes to money… and… EVERYONE has their price! Money talks!

  17. I understand the players were betrayed but the biggest betrayal is against our country. I will boycott everything LIV/PGA touches. We need a new golf league.

  18. Oh PGA players… you don't need to consider hiring bankers for LIV advice. Here's some advice for free… if a psychopathic murderer who dismembers living bodies for fun wants to offer you WAY more money than you're worth to be his little golf puppets, just say no. If you go along with it, it's just a matter of time before you're helping him dismember living bodies at the championship awards banquet, and dismembering living bodies is bad… mkay?
