  1. There’s like no way you get this little views, if the NHL was as popular as basketball or baseball, you would have 200k easily

  2. Canadiens needed a good player and Avs need money to fill other positions. They didn’t give up on Newhook, but the money they would have to give him is needed elsewhere

  3. I think Newhook is going to add blazing speed to the Habs second line.. Newhook is apparently a very good penalty killer…He has very good puck handling skills… He could turn into a 50-60 point player within a year or two…

  4. I like it. I think they have got a solid two way centre as a solid no.3 or 4 centre for years to come. He was not inconsistent. He was 21 turning 22 playing behind others. No one at that age is "consistent". They play in spurts until they develop. The thing is he is 2 way and faster than Jake Evans. Hughes knows what he was doing. He gave up a dman he was not going to re-sign and probably Colorado gets someone they have to wait on 3 years at least while the Habs are in next two years rebuild. Makes sense for both teams. Newhook is not as bad as Av fans are saying.

  5. I think I understand the logic behind this trade: Imagine the Habs getting Will Smith this year.. So now we got Caufield, Suzuki, Will Smith, Dach, Slavkovski, Sean Monahan, Josh Anderson, Harvey-Pinard (who fully deserves a spot now)… Coming up there is: Farrel, Owen Beck, Mesar, Joshua Roy etc… I'm sure I forget someone.. I mean, how much more space can we make for upcoming middle tier tallent? I think we're seeing the end of the rebuild, and the Habs are now more focused on short term results and having more success next season. The Newlook guy looks like a dynamic intense player and the Habs, and myself also, are confident that under Martin Saint-Louis's guidance he will thrive and find his place, just as Kirby Dach did. He will probably be on the third trio along with Slavkovski and either a veteran or some other upcoming talent… The Habs have too much players coming up as I said, where are you going to put all of them??? This year, the Habs will need to make decisions upon who stays and who leaves.. too many players..

  6. You can’t really compare the CHL to the BCHL one is a second division the other is the best Junior league in the world

  7. Chiarot is the player the Canadiens traded to get that 31st. That pick came out to nowhere because Chiarot was acquired via FA. I think it a good trade

  8. Whoooo? Wow Montreal is now a contender for the Stanley cup. All he is an average player. Maybe you can trade for Zadina and you can start a scrub line

  9. Colorado basically gave up a guy with sophomore slump after a winning Stanley Cup run.

    For two lottery tickets.

Everyone is saying Hughues overpaid, yet everyone has the same strat at EA Sports NHL. Trade draft picks for guys who have a better floor AND better ceiling than whatever you could draft at those spots. Colorado can only hope to get a guy as good as Newhook with those 2 draft picks. Sakic should deal them for solid top 6 winger. Let's see in 5 years if Hughues didn''t actually fleece Sakic on this one.

''Newhook is Newhook, but a 31st or 37th pick could be anything! It could even be a Newhook!''

  10. This is a deep draft and maybe some of those late first rounders can turn out to be something

  11. Alex Newhook is a center, which the Habs need, but his possession metrics are mediocre and his FO% is awful. This for the 31st and 37th picks in today's draft and defenseman prospect Gianni Fairbrother. Unless Newhook performs must better than his 30 point season from last year, the Avs made out like bandits by trading a player that was not going to get top six minutes for two top 40 picks plus a prospect.

  12. Real echoes of the Dach trade here. He’ll get way more opportunities to play in Montreal than he did in Colorado.

  13. Really? Was this a "great" trade? When Colorado flips just one of the picks to secure Ross Colton? Sakic totally schooled Hughes on the Lehkonen deal, and he's done it again. IMO.
