GROUP STAGE ROUND UP
Our men started off their 1st game strongly vs the Beavers going into the half 17-0 up but hit the skids in the 2nd half and made the game a lot closer than it should have been (17-15 at one point) before running out 24-12 winners. Their next game was against leg 1 & 2 winners and overall series leaders Germany. Having played them twice already, both incredibly close games, losing in leg 1 but beating them in the group stage in leg 2 and then watching them win the competition made us super keen to take them on again. It was a tightly contested game with us scoring in the final 30 seconds to win 26-21.

Our ladies team came up against the Lionesses in game 1, a team that they have played many times and whilst the pre-game prep was good they never seemed to find their rhythm in the game & the Lionesses were the deserved winners 31-12. Their next game was against the series leaders and well known force that is Samurai, it was a tough fought game with our ladies scoring at the death, just needing the conversion to tie the game but it unfortunately sailed wide. A tough 17-15 loss but showed what our ladies are capable of against big opposition. Their last game was against the Bath ladies where they scored some phenomenal tries (8) and won 46-5. This put them through to the plate semi- final where they would take on the previous series plate winners the Savvy Panthers.

KNOCK OUTS
Our men took on China in the Quarter finals of the cup, a team we had faced once before in the semi-final of the Chiswick 7’s last year where we came up tops. It was a back and forth game with the lead changing hands many times and at the final whistle of regular time the scores were tied. Unfortunately China proved too strong in extra time and scored 1st to take the game. We then faced the Samurai Barracudas in the Plate Semi-Final and in a poor performance by the Wild Dogs they put us to the sword in a strong performance. Lots of positives to take from the day for the lads though, beating the finalists in Germany and coming very close to turning over eventual cup winners China.

Our ladies made easy work of the previous legs plate winners the Savvy Panthers in their semi-final 34-0 and moved onto the final vs Super Series long timers the Wooden Spoon Marauders. It was a tight game with both teams giving absolutely everything, but our Alpha Pack ladies held on and came out on top winning the Wild Dogs first silverware in our 1st year at the Super Sevens Series.

Wild Dogs Rugby – HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Our journey began in 2017 when we were invited by the European Beach Rugby Association (EBRA) to represent South Africa in the final leg of the EBRA series in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy. The popularity of the Wild Dogs at the tournament ultimately saw us invited back to compete in 2018.
We chose to build on our success by expanding our tournament fixtures the following year to include more formats of the game namely 7s & 10s. Today we compete all over the world in both Mens and Womans rugby and at multiple levels ranging from Ultra Social and Vets rugby, right through to Open and Elite.

ENCOMPASSING THE SPIRIT OF UBUNTU
The Wild Dogs are a rugby family, who want to spread their love of the game in competitions that fans love whilst building a global community driven by family, sportsmanship, teamwork, culture and enjoyment both on and off the rugby field. We are a distinctive team, easily recognisable by our signature Ndebele patterned kit and known for a dogged yet skilful and entertaining brand of rugby.
*Ubuntu is a Nguni Bantu term meaning “humanity”. It is sometimes translated as “I am because we are” or “humanity towards others”.
