  1. NO!!! Move Nylander for a power forward like Tom Wilson or Josh Anderson. Use the 2M in difference and Kerfoot's/Holl's money going out the door to sign Orlov and possibly Hathaway. Then move Brodie who is worse than Holl at playoff hockey, and use his money to sign Graves. Re-sign Kampf, Acciari, Bunting and Samsonov. The Leafs would be harder to play agains in the top 6 and would have a gritty bottom six. Matthews/Marner/Bunting Tavares/Knies/Wilson Kampf/Jarnkrok/Lafferty Acciari/ McMann/Hathaway Rielly/Orlov Graves/Liljegren McCabe/Shenn Samsonov/Woll

  2. People complain about the Tavares contract but want to lock up these guys until they’re 33-34. Why would we want 30+ year old players at 10 mil+ salaries? Sign for 5 years and trade for a decent return in 4.

  3. At least the Leafs of the 70's, 80's and 90's had the CHEAP owner excuse. Now they just looking very stupid.😂😂

  4. A key move here is right before trading them all to offer a pay cut extension first

  5. I don't see what the problem is. For the longest time I keep hearing people complain about how players don't show up in the playoffs. Willy has consistently shown up in the playoffs. So has Mo. Why should we ever move on from Willy or even Mo? Makes no sense. Now him asking for a $9.8 million contract asking price is a little ridiculous.

  6. I don't get why 4-5 players getting a 50%ish of the cap is such a big deal, at least if they're as good as everyone says. I believe it was the '16-'17 pens tat had over 40 mil of a 75 mil cap tied up in MAF (who didn't even play all too much in the ploffs), Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and Kessel (cap-wise). If theyre really as elite as everyone says, its on management to find the Guentzels, Murrays, etc. Even if its somewhat luck based, the management seems to have failed to have supported their belief in their ability to supplement an elite core with cheap, young talent

  7. The choice is clear. Choose Willy, or matthews.
They can’t afford both: I’d choose Willy if he’s good for 8 years:

  8. Leafs got the raw end of the deal bc Covid. The core four lucked out there ( had the pandemic hit a year or two earlier). So they got the big bucks over the years when big bucks were rare. The team suffered bc of that. (cap didn't increase so Leafs had to sign most other players at league minimum so the team took a hit but the stars didn't. ) Now that things are returning to normal the Leafs stars need to put their own financial concerns secondary. Do you want to win? or just gouge?

  9. Tavares is untradable, Matthews must be retained, and if Nylander is resigned, then Marner has to be traded if you’re not bringing back the Core-4 for one more run for the Cup.

  10. Nylander is not worth more than $7 Million per year. Why do Leafs Executives even consider overpaying players like Marner, Nylander and JT – as their history is they don’t perform well in the playoffs?

  11. Steve logic: absolute shock Nylander might get as much money as Jack Eichel but happy to pay Matthews more than McDavid (who has almost 2x more points that Matthews last season) 😂

  12. Nylander has been as good or better than the other 3 why should he settle for less than 10?

  13. I dont really mimd them paying the young 3 guys. JT won't make 11M on his next deal, so with the smaller cap hit from him & the cap jump, I think they'll have the same cap space for like 3-4 more seasons & then the cap jumps will really start to actually add cap space to that team

  14. Yes that talent is great difficult to find. .is maturing into an awesome player. ..sign him 8 yrs 3 yrs does not work out trade him!!!!think Willy Styles is worth it.. a trade would haunt us later in years!!!

  15. All this back and forth on the core four is assuming the Leafs are vying for a Cup. News flash: they aren’t. Regular season cash cow; take a chance that you have a healthy team come April; pray for a hot goalie. That’s it.

  16. For the love of all that is holy, please do NOT bring back all four of these losers. PLEEEEEASE trade ONE to try and fill out the roster. Hell, I'd accept two "good" players for one "outstanding" one (like Nylander). For Fck's sake, how many more embarrassing loses are you fools willing to suffer through?

  17. Hope they do nothing and just keep choking every spring. Love watching this shite organization cave over and over. Great entertainment.

  18. My favorite part of this Leafs off-season, is they fired Dubas, and will run it back with the same core making even more money. Amazing.

  19. Huge contract extensions will guarantee that the core four will continue to have a detrimental effect on building a well-balanced championship lineup. ✔️
