How John Ellis and Austin Kaiser ended up as caddies for Wyndham and Xander

On this week’s episode of GOLF’s Subpar, PGA Tour caddies John Ellis and Austin Kaiser join former PGA Tour pro Colt Knost and jicky jack legend Drew Stoltz for an exclusive interview from True Spec Golf in Beverly Hills. The men on the bags of 2023 U.S. Open winner Wyndham Clark and 7-time PGA Tour winner Xander Schauffele talk their unlikely paths to becoming caddies, the closest they have ever come to being fired and the most ridiculous things they have experienced on the road.

  1. I was out there on Tuesday for a practice round. I totally agree with Drew. The course was horrible for spectators. It was very hard to get around. I kept running into dead ends. And you couldn't get within 25 yards of most greens. If you go to The Genesis at Riviera, you can get within 5 yards of most greens and it's very easy to get around. I don't know why they didn't make LA CC better for spectators.

  2. So good to see someone turn it around like that. Just goes to show that it can be done. I’d like to see Rickie next.
