  1. I stayed away from hybrids for the longest time after hooking them badly in the early days of hybrids. Recently bought a 3 hybrid from Tour Edge and love it. It's very easy to hit and doesn't lead to big hooks.

  2. If you live in a place where it’s windy all the time then you’ll want something lower. The hybrid checks all the boxes for me because I can hit it high and low. A utility iron only works off the tee. A 7 wood can touch gods ass so it would never work well for me.

  3. I have a 3 W and a 5H… but I have been hitting my 4i cleaner and more accurate. What I do want is that seixon 2 utility dring iron .. for short par 4's or narrow fairways.

  4. Ping G5 7 wood at 21 degrees with JZ steel R-flex. I like it for high flying and quickly stopping ball flight. Good for over trees.

  5. Got a Mizuno 7 wood six months ago. Became the go to club for all but the worst lies, off the tee when fairway is priority, and off the fairway it launches !!! Even hit it out of firm fairway bunkers.

  6. Carry a G425 7w and 4-5 hybrid. Like all of them although I am testing a Paradym Heavenwood which could replace the 7w.

  7. Perfectly timed video. I have literally spent the last week debating between the both Stealth 7 wood and a Stealth plus 3 hybrid to replace my SIM UDI for that 215-220 window in my bag. Ultimately came down to, with how windy my home course is, the ability to both flight it down (especially of the tee) and get it up out of the rough easier. I decided to move into the 3 hy for those reasons, but may reconsider a 7 wood down the road.

    Great Video Michael

  8. I picked up a 7w and it’s my favorite club in the bag. For me, it’s a solid 225-230 carry and it lands like a 9iron. Easy to throttle down and take 10-15yd off if needed. Only weakness is windy days.

  9. I have gone back to the fairway woods at 63 it gives extra clubhead speed I have the 5,7 9 11 I hit these better than my hybrids

  10. One more thing my gapping from my 7 iron is 10 yards apart with the woods, which is perfect 😊

  11. I’ve got a mavrik 3 wood, 5 wood, 7 wood in my bag. Absolutely love them. 5 and 7 are so easy to hit and give great distance.

  12. I bought a new Ping 9 wood and love it. It is so easy to hit and I can swing it hard. Great for long par 3's and 4's.

  13. I had a Callaway Great Big Bertha 7 wood, still have, but I took it out my bag for a G10 2 hybrid! Now have a 20 deg utility wood and G425 22/4 hybrid. I used a 1 iron till this year on some courses, the GBB 7 just needs a new grip to get it back into play!

  14. I have a Paraydym X Driver, Paradym 3 wood……wait for it…… 21degree Wilson D9 7 wood and then a Wilson 25 degree 5 Hybrid…… mad but it works for me

  15. Just put the G430 7 wood in the bag a couple of weeks ago. Absolute game changer. 230 off the deck and stops fast. Absolutely love it!

  16. Excellent video, very helpful. I got fitted and the G430 HL with the 35gm Alta Quick shaft outperformed everything else. Gamed it a few weeks ago and it is stunning, a delight to play

  17. I’ve had a 7 wood in the bag since 1993! Nicklaus n-1 has a graphite shaft and rails on the bottom. It’s a rocket launcher. Many years of good shots and she’s held up well.

  18. I have a B/Bertha B21 7 wood I recently took out of the bag and replaced it with a Callaway Rogue ST Max Heavenwood 20*. Longer shaft than 7 wood almost like a 4 wood length and it does a tremendous job! High launch and great stopping power on the greens. I still have a Mavrik Max 5 wood for windier conditions and a Epic Flash 3 wood lofted up to 16* almost like a 4 wood. Then the driver. My 4 and 5 irons have been replaced by a Mizuno JPX-900 #4 hybrid 22* of course shorter shaft than the 5 wood and fills the need in that space in my bag. Playing my best golf ever this year !

  19. I have a 3 Hybrid that hates me and a 5 wood that is amazing, grip down and it’s my 210 club, normal grip I can push it to 230. Another great video Michael!

  20. I love to hit my 5/7 wood for the height and ease. I absolutely love hitting my real (mcgregor mt mb) 3 iron for low stingers and teeing off on short par 4s long par 3s. Rescues for me, forget it , too many snap hooks. Who cares whats in the bag, as long as it works and lowers your score. Plenty pros using 7 woods and hybrids now …

  21. Great video Michael, I have good clubhead speed and I cranked my 3-Hybrid up to 20 deg and put in a longer shaft and I hit it pretty well and very high, but I have always mulled over getting a 7-wood and probably will until I buy one lol! I had a real Brassy back in the day and that 4-wood was the best thing ever off the deck and I think a 7-wood current technology would be crazy to not try!

  22. I've settled on fairway woods, including a 7-wood over hybrids. I'm a slow swing speed player so I absolutely need the extra height that the fairway wood gives me. The modern low profile head fairway wood is just as easy to hit in my opinion. If the longer shaft length is a concern, you can have it cut down 1 inch.

  23. What is the “standard” length of a 7 wood?

Your picture appeared like it was 1.5-2” longer than the hybrid. For me that would make it around 43”, which is my 3 wood length. I do not carry any FW other than my TSI3, which I play 43” length and 15.75*. I do carry a 3H maybe 40% of rounds, it swaps w/my Srixon U85 20* utility iron. It’s a Callaway Super Hybrid 18*, 41.25” length. The U85 is 40” length fwiw.

For me the 18 Super Hybrid is quite high launch and reasonably spinny, averaging 3600 on launch monitor. I can regularly hit it 125-130’ peak height, a 7 wood I fear would be even higher launch and spin which would be unwise as I often play in 15-20 knot winds.

If standard 7 wood length is at or near that of 3 wood, at least as it appears in your vid, I fail to see it’s purpose unless someone struggled generating club speed sufficient to launch a 3 wood from deck 🤷‍♂️

  24. great video, can we get the 2023 t100 vs 2021 t100 reviewed when you get your hands on them? thank you

  25. Pulled the five iron out of my bag, put in the 7 wood. The wood is so much easier to hit the ball out of the rough.

  26. I'm a 14.5 hcp and my bag goes from 5i-4h-7w-3w and there's 15-20yds between each club, works great and removes the 4i and 3i option.

  27. I’ve carried a 7 wood for ages in between my hybrid & 3 & 5 woods – love them – play ping g420 but loving the Paradym 7 wood now 😄

  28. I've got the 7 wood because I wanted to be able to shape and manipulate better……who am I kidding, I'm a 25 handicap and just wanted to get the ball airborne…!!!😅😅😅

  29. 7 Wood is a game changer from me – 100%….. Handicap dropped significantly to mid single figures now and 7 wood (g425) has been a big reason for that….

  30. Love my Ping G425 Max 5 and 7 woods. Wish I could easily find a 9 wood with a stiff flex. They’re unicorns for sure.

  31. Great video Mike. I added a PXG 0211 7 Wood into the bag this season and it's a versatile club for sure. I feel more confident looking down on it from tee, fairway & rough and find it flies consistently higher than my 3 Hy and overall, I find it more forgiving.

  32. For me it’s less about “fairway versus hybrid”, it’s simply which is the best club for me. I had a PXG Gen4 7W which worked wonders, until it didn’t. Now I’ve got a G430 3H and 5H, phenomenal clubs, never had so much confidence for 200 – 235 yards approach shots.

  33. I just checked the price here in Canada ,, $ 599.00 utterly ridiculous to say the least ,,
