  1. TV money has skewed the football business. Most of the TV money goes to the premier league and is shared equally with before appearance money. What this does is disadvantage non fashionable clubs, those with large overheads usually those with large fan bases much more than those with a meagre fan base. Those with large stadia, high policing costs, and general overhead costs more so than those with small stadia and low overhead. I think that TV money should follow the supporter based on match day attendance rather than the armchair fans who don't support their club outside of their TV subscription. For clubs with large fan bases outside the premiership their fan base works against them as smaller clubs don't have the same on cost caused by supporters and large stadia. THis has lead to the Premier legue becoming the home of teams with no supporters playing against the big 5 or six who get all the appearance money.

  2. Leicester got promotion on the back of an ffp breach? If a points deduction of (say) 12 points had been applied Leicester would still have been promoted. The eventual settlement was around £3M.

  3. Really interesting episode , still one of the few I listen to, I like Kevin MaGuire too. One thing though, my lot ( Bristol City) have a net transfer spend of about + £9M (3 years) thanks to Semenyo last year. We have spent about £4.5M over that time while getting all the high earners to leave, or stay on reduced terms. We were a financial car crash for years, but that has turned around under Pearson. Look forward to your prediction show.

  4. Would of been nice if we heared more of Sunderland but I guess it’s must be good thing

  5. I keep forgetting we still have a suspended points deduction for the upcoming season, although that isn’t for financial reasons…

  6. Nice shirt collection…. The show was ok too😂

P.s Yes it took till the end to realize that he was also changing glasses.

  7. Thanks for another great video. In terms of a moneyball approach Sunderland are giving it a good go. We have an actual saleable asset in each position rather than a load of journeymen just pulling a wage.

  8. I’ve enjoyed this mini series of videos and I now have to try and find some time for more podcasts!
As a Millwall fan it’s great to hear football discussions that don’t label you as the “problem child”.
A good owner/chief executive combo is a hard act to create, and we have been lucky after Andy Ambler left for the FA that we have been able to keep some great consistency.
They have been more like a perfect defensive unit than an attacking duo with flair.
But I think we are more like trying to turn an oil tanker than a yacht. We are getting there though!

  9. Leeds give a board room seat to Rudy Cline-Thomas who was in at Plymouth. He's had to deinvest 4m with Argyle due the rules of the EFL.

  10. The annual price of football pod, I love it 💙 my favourite yearly listen.
Such a selection of kits too 😂😂😂
Btw Ipswich will piss this league 😁💙🚜

  11. 49ers need a amount of money to buy Leeds that is a big enterprise and they expect to learn with it Jed York wants to know if they have the right amount to pay Leeds that’s what need to do that will be happening soon if he doesn’t respond to leeds you gotta do it
