Is the 2023 VW Golf R a BETTER hot hatch than a Toyota GR Corolla?

This Golf R is in its 8th generation and VW brought it back for more in 2023. On the outside you will see a familiar shape with special touches. There are 19in wheels, unique rear wing and new “R” badge. On the inside there is leather interior, large infotainment system and digital gauge cluster. Under the hood there is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 315HP & is mated to a 6-peed manual and AWD. Is the 2023 VW Golf R a BETTER hot hatch than a Toyota GR Corolla?

Toppy real sloppy, call it slippey top (Grip)
She grippy grop on my cickey kock (Grop)

  3. The hot hatch segment is getting hot so far! Love how this Golf R looks so far! Pretty good, Joe!

  4. Golf R is wayyyyy too expensive. Just get a GTI and do a decent tune.

  5. I noticed they starting to make a lot of automobiles turbocharged SUVs cars why are they putting so many turbo in so many automobiles it sounds like to me they trying to make on the road lol.

  6. Great review, love this car, glad to see you pass 1 million, I joined when u had 600,000 several years ago and love watching the new cars and future cars

  7. Love it. Can't wait for Tuesdays on throttle. There is something to be said about making your own parts and limiting outsourcing. I think it would be better if manufacturers made more of their own. It could reduce some supply chain issues. Henry Ford would have opened his own semiconductor facility.

  8. I would take the Golf R all the way!! Over the Corolla GR and Accord Type R!! I mean Civic type R!!

  9. In California you are out of your mind to have a 35 sidewall low profile tire like this. The potholes will crack a rim in your first week, at least that's what happened to my neighbor who had a Dodge Dart with low profile tires. Yes low profile tires help you hold the G forces when cornering fast, but realistically, what we have here in CA are mostly straight roads with deteriorating road conditions, and potholes galore. You need a fat tire, and for this reason alone i would skip the Golf R. Why people are copying the stupid BMW M series habit of super low profile tires which signifies to young fools that they have a "hot" car, is not going to coax me out of my hard earned dollars.

  10. Hey Joe, how does the 6-speed manual in this vehicle. Compare to the 6-speed in your Type-R?

  11. I think I'll take GR Corolla and just have fun with it, ignoring anyone's opinion about the interior, it's probably gonna last longer than Golf R as well

  12. It might have a wonky dash and no buttons but atleast it has an armrest unlike the Corolla😂
