Push Hands (or Tui Shou) is an exercise used to test and develop balance, stability, and sensitivity, among other Taijiquan (Tai Chi) skills. It is a step towards sparring and fighting with actual Tai Chi Ch’uan, but martial artists from many different backgrounds meet to test the results of their training.

Freestyle pushing takes the form of a kind of game where each person attempts to take the other person’s balance and make them take a step, leave a defined area, or fall down.
