I can’t believe Duggan got a week. The game is an effing shambles.
Is lack of resilience a big reason for losing so badly. They say footy is played 90% above the shoulders. I'm sure everyone tries. But are the top footballers so resilient, so hardworking, can dig that extra bit deeper when all seems lost… The top players are elite athletically but also mentally. Just a thought. Maybe we have a lot of guys that aren't as talented at the mental state of the game. More fragile. in a top team its not as obvous, but in a bottom team and when everything is against you they just don't have the leadership and positively to lift. Its not softness or not trying really. The team rocks up in Adelaide with no defence and barely a forward line. But the mids were ok. But Simmo wouldn't have predicted the handful of mids that let him down. It was as if they bought the argument that "all was lost". Whereas you got other guys that lifted a cog because "all was lost", I think we can see guts it out even more.
Basically the Eagles rate J Williams to be better than Claremont's Buller. Time will tell. I'm wondering whether the Eagles are just trying to free up academy spots.
