Drafting Best Players From Bolts Roster | LA Chargers

Steven Haglund and Tyler Schoon of the Guilty as Charged podcast are bringing their insights and perspective to the Chargers podcast network, every Tuesday! This week, the hosts are joined by The Athletic’s Daniel Popper to draft the best players from the Bolts roster and create expansion teams, from Justin Herbert to Austin Ekeler and more. Popper and the hosts defend their drafting strategies and react to each other’s picks. Popper also breaks down what he’s seen from OTAs, including being impressed with Quentin Johnston, the latest in Justin Herbert’s extension talks, and more as LA prepares for the 2023 NFL season.

  1. I think they have plenty of cap left to go all in on one more year this season they have almost 13 million left in cap thats enough to sign 2 more decent vets at position yhat need the depth could sign a veteran edge defender like Clowney or yannik ugakue, or frank clark ,can go after a good #2 rb like Leonard fournette ,or kareem hunt, john Johnson as a saftey to pair with derwin would be huge he can play Staley's defense really good is really good last line of defense if players get to 2nd and 3rd levels of defense can play free or strong safety and play slot corner too or even a real veteran swing tackle they have enough to sign these players their needs to be urgency I dont want to see bosa go down again for 10+ games and we are relying on a rookie or rumph I think tuli will be bery good but its not good team building saying next man up all the time thats why we always underachieve because they always are cheap look at last season if their was real edge depth and wr depth we probably win couple more games we got super lucky with salyer but their is positions that need that veteran depth if we dont sign john Johnson or another vet saftey its only alohi and james if one of them get hurt we are screwed same with a lot of positions

  2. We could probably get jadeveon Clowney for a good team friendly deal that would be huge to help the run defense and spell mack or bosa so they are not playing so many snaps and the fact its just a given that bosa can not last entire season healthy he is really good against the run and rushing the qb but he also always gets hurt and gets dumb penalties at the worst times stop trying to hope a d pray it all works out thats why the good teams are always in the playoffs because they are proactive about having the right depth in key positions also we didn't resign Callahan he was super good against the pass and a big reason we were at least really good at stopping 3rd downs not very good against the run but not having him hurts the cb room and we dont know if jc is gonna even get to 80% of what he used to be I know he is getting paid to be the #1 cb but I think when he geys back healthy he should be the #2 and use mike Davis as the #1 its not what they intended signing him to the big money but that ne better than him getting burned bye the best #1 wrs they face against

  3. I think Steven should have picked Davis and Duggan with his last 2 picks. Either way, this roster is fucking stacked! I seriously think we win the division if we are middle of the pack or better in injuries. Jackson Mahomes will be dragged through the mud by the media for the Chiefs missing the playoffs for the first time in Patrick's tenure.

  4. Okay, I haven't been around guilty as charged that much until recently. Good job guys, I like it. Is it just me, is does Steve Haglund Kyle Van Noys Doppelganger?

  5. Daniel [POPPER ] do you do any LIVE shows any more on YOUR pod cast [ YouTube channel } ? Mini camp is going on & not a word on it at all ? And it has BEEN a while .

  6. I love Guilty as Charged joining the Chargers channel, and now Popper is on as a guest…… just made my day! ⚡️⚡️⚡️

  7. Totally unfair to popper where he only got to pick. Every third time and Tyler and Steven got to pick twice every round. Unfair unfair unfair. Should have went 123456789 not 123654789.

  8. When Pop said Ke believes in paying it forward stands out. Malcom Floyd was the vet when Ke was a rookie. Good man to learn from; two of my favorite Chargers receivers to watch over the years. Let’s hope Q can be number three. ⚡️⚡️

  9. What a fantastic discussion! Excellent insight that was well-presented. Graphics were simple but effective. Helps me understand what to expect this year. You are right that there is not enough depth at Safety. Would have been nice to discuss how new OC Moore will impact value of specific players and what this implies for 12 personnel. Also, did not like endorsement of Will Clapp — it was his fault that Herbert got injured so he should not be on the team.
