What’s the secret to hitting consistently solid golf balls? Truth is, there isn’t one main secret, but a bunch of little things to keep in mind. Take a look at this video as I break down a couple of my main tips for solid ball striking.

Great lesson, great teacher, it works¡
When I do this drill without a ball, I can easily hit my aiming point. But when I try and hit a ball, I go right back to hitting behind the ball. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?
@cmartingolf Yep, that was it. It felt weird at first, but it is hard to argue with the results. My swing feels immensely slower, like I have all the time in the world. At least until CF snaps my hands through the ball. But my distances are up and my ball flight is much more consistent. Thanks so much for your help. I bought a TSP and it is money. It is a good reminder to focus on lag and aiming my angles.

SEPTEMBER, EARTH WIND AND FIRE!!!!
The most useful golf tip video I think I've ever watched
Does this only work in the sand or is this for all iron play? Nice video by the way.
I have a question. Why wouldn't you just pre-set that impact position at address? Obviously, you might not be able to total pre-set an impact position, but why would you want to complicate your swing with such a different hand position at address -vs- hand position at impact?
David's pants are way too short!
Thanks for the advice you have helped my long irons shots a great deal with this video. Another video recently helped improve my driving consistency as well. Who needs lessons when you have youtube! Thanks alot.
@cmartingolf, true, I can't think of one either that has impact hand location, however, do you honestly think there's a definitive speed difference in a two inch hand position difference at address?
Cmartin….thanks for the vid. I appreciate and watch all of your stuff. I have a chronic, CHRONIC, problem of coming in too steep right from the top. In my transition, my hands go out, and the shaft gets steep. Even when I feel like my hands are going down and the shaft is flat, they're really going out and the shaft is steep. I've spend hundreds on lessons and swing aids, and I can't stop it. If I REALLY try to get flat, then the club gets stuck, and I have NO power. Can you help???
@cmartingolf Hmm i would think Steve Stricker would be pretty close..
Question: Is it okay if my left wrist cups AFTER impact even though I have a forward leaning shaft and lag retention?
Would this be that same as saying look in front of the ball at address instead of directly on
top of the ball?
Simply very good advice for solid consistent ball striking.
Answer to your title: practice.
This is the secret to good golf. I finally figured this out and it's too bad this information isn't known by more golfers.
Very curious – what is your opinion about ball position for the driver? And, when hitting a real iron shot (let's say 7), where do your eyes look? Are you looking at, or trying to focus your vision on a spot in front of the ball?
true that.
have to say mate you know what your talking about
Brilliant, common sense and logic,a great coach.
I think this just helped my swing out. Thanks

Thanks for the vid. I THOUGHT I saw the pro's clubs farther back at contact in slo mo's. Everyone tells you to snap into the ball for more power. I also wondered why you (I) stand up during the swing, and you answered that so well. THAT makes sense. So the snap makes you miss AND stand up and stink. I can't wait to give it a try, knowing now that I wasn't seeing things. I actually paid my pro for this very lesson a couple of times, and he got immediately side tracked to his favorite tip.
Is it the same aim for Driver and Fairway Woods?
I have a downward strike. Yet I also have a downward strike on my fairway woods and Driver. I hit them very low. What should I do?
Hi Martin
Just a quick word to say how impressed I am with your teaching and how much your channel has helped my ball striking recently. I tend to hit my longer irons from dead centre in my stance – is this a big problem?
So does that mean I alter my swing between irons and woods?
Nice
Martin, I used to hit the ball pretty well 20 odd years ago but now at age 70 timing and coordination have wained as expected. Your video's have given me renewed hope that I can play better golf now. I especially like the feeling of the right arm as being straight on the back swing which was the subject of one of your other videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Last year I was a mid 90s player but after this video I was able to break 90 for the first time thank you
Nice
If I follow this process and aim left of the ball, how do I rotate the arms. I was told that the tour players slow down the end of the club at the center of the stance to promote the cross-over of the arms to get more distance/straighter shots.
Right before your backswing you tilt club handle left just a bit. Does that help with hitting down? Thanks
how do u hit good if u need played before I feel my hand sliping and blisters in the palm, some of the time my hits are perfect I can tell when I move up or move my feet but how do I get a good grip I cant figure out the slipping
I'm quite good at most sports, but golf? Terrible. I'm the worst out of all my friends (only played two games so far) but its frustrating me. Thanks for this video going to try it out today
People want to build putting greens in their back yards…I need a sand bunker! So many tremendous drills with automatic feedback in the sand.
Thank you for this.
I noticed that your ball position 'appears' to be further up than I've seen in other instructional videos. Am I seeing incorrectly.
Again, thank you.
Now I got it.
Thanks Martin!
Wearing a quality glove should give you a better grip of the club. You shouldnt be getting blisters on your palm. Try gripping the club more in the fingers than the palm.
why r your feet like u r hitting a driver
This was very informative for me. I always thought the impact position was the same as the address position.
4:40 that swing definitely didnt go well lol
Last month I constantly shot over 150. Today I'm breaking 135-140. Incredible! The results speak for themselves.
OK, I stop the video right after you both hit . The one difference I saw, was the right leg coming thru on Martin Chucks was differently coming thru towards the left knee. Better rotation and strike…I'm I correct
I notice,,at address,,you address the ball just off your left foot,,,,that’s like Jack N. Did,,which I do
Which stopped me from deep divots,,,,thanks,, your a great teacher of the game 😃
