  1. Lambie supports foreign economic and military intervention, but won't support the Tasmanian people in a massive infrastructure project. If Tasmania does not want AFL, then maybe the Northern Territory will. Hahahaha Jimmy Bartel still has not got over the Pies kicking the Cats arse in round one. The Cats still the only AFL team using sling tackles and head high hits.

  2. Eddie got the Taxpayer to donate the Glasshouse to Collingwood as well as Olympic Park. He also got the Taxpayer to build all of Collingwood's facilities and even to build this Football Club that turns over $80 Million a Year a Function Centre that the Club rents out for thousands of Dollars. So it is no surprize that Eddie thinks that the Taxpayer should pay for an AFL Stadium in Tasmania that will only get a handful of events a year. Eddie's and the AFL's next demand would be an AFLW Stadium then a Launceston Stadium, a Tasmanian Training Facility and then a Function Centre for the Tasmanian AFL Team. Just get the Taxpayer to pay for the lot hey Eddie?

  3. The fact of the matter is Launceston should be the home of the new or a renovated stadium. This is from someone living in Hobart. Unfortunately, someone in power decided they wanted to have a latte in Salamanca and then walk to the stadium. What's really interesting is the federal government kicked in $360 million for it but took about the same amount out of the road building budget.

  4. Eddie complains about the poor skills and lack of competition between top and bottom, but keeps pushing for more teams. Maybe he should try and make a connection between the two. We have too many teams and the standard is dropping. The more teams you have the more players there are playing that are not really up to AFL standard. We need to decrease the number of teams if we want to have a better standard. Pretty obvious really.

  5. I think the population would prefer 1 game in Launceston and 1 game in Hobart per year but the teams that were playing were Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton and Essendon. The government kicking in lost revenue for not having the game at the MCG.

  6. The thing is, Tassie is the poorest state in Australia with increasing homelessness, poverty and social issues yet the government wants to spend a billion dollars on a stadium they don’t even need. Understandably many people think it could be better spent in other ways.

  7. People have to realise, that Blundstone Arena is not up to AFL standard, but no one in high places has the guts to expose it, that's why they think Mac Point is the answer for a new stadium to be built, which is bollocks! a look at artists impressions of the new stadium, there is no room for anything else, where's the expanded forecourts, the transport hub? the answer is that UTAS Stadium should be the major development, plenty of room to expand, an arterial Rd running past, and walking distance to the city, also the North West, North, and North East of the State are strong football followers, so my opinion is, the new Tassie Team should be based there, but this won't happen, because of parochialism, so unless we all work together and achieve this, we'll always be a laughing stock of the Nation

  8. I think it was really poor that the issues about getting assistant coaches in Sydney was't listened to. That is an issue in Syd and Brisb… In Perth and Adel they just pay overs to the coaches, but now the soft cap causes issues.

  9. For as long as young disabled people lives are being wasted away in nursing homes, I don't care about your bloody stadium!

  10. Just get the Taxpayer to pay for it. Who cares about the housing crisis and the fact that rates of homelessness are at all time record high levels in Tasmania. If a roof on Football Stadiums is so important than why does Collingwood chose to play at the MCG which has no roof over Marvel Stadium? Why is there no Roof on any NRL, A-Leauge or any Soccer Stadiums in Europe? It gets pretty cold in Europe. But these soccer teams survive. Why does only Tassie need a roof for?

  11. They don't need a stadium Eddie. They do need a team. Gold coast, Port, Adelaide, the WA teams, didn't have stadiums…mnnn!! Mainland interests? Friends and mates? I hope they get it, but it doesn't need to be, as long as TV can do a great job.

  12. Eddie's comments on umpires I'm not sure about, But I think his argument is interesting and we can always take an idea from it.

  13. That's they way Eddie, you tell the Tasmanian people what they need and want, wtf would they know, they only live there. I remember you suggesting Adam Goodes sound be the promo for king Kong. Just stfu and let the adults talk. Bartel completely owned him in the Tassie debate.

  14. Who said, 'Build it and they will come?' Properly rated quote from history. Actually, it might be underrated.

  15. The AFL Demand for a $750 Million Dollar Stadium is completely unreasonable. There are already two AFL Stadiums that have AFL approval for the next 3 seasons. This weekend the AFL is playing a match in Ballarat at a venue that is far inferior to the two current Stadiums in Tasmania. This is nothing more than Corporate Welfare. The AFL Sells its TV Rights for $643 Million a year or $3 Million a Match. The AFL needs to pay for the Stadium not the Taxpayer.

  16. The AFL has just sold the TV Rights for $643 Million a Year. They are Tax Exempt they pay no Tax. Why on Earth should the Taxpayer pay for it? Eddie has stolen millions from the taxpayer to build facilities for the Collingwood Football Club he is a total crook as is Gillon McLachlan.

  17. The Tasmanian Government needs to stop donating money to Hawthorn and North Melbourne. The Government needs to instead invest money in Rugby League, Rugby Union, and Soccer. Hawthorn and NTH have already stolen enough money from the Taxpayer.

  18. Tasmania needs a Team and it needs to happen before 2028. NO AFL, A-League, NSL, NRL, or Rugby Union Team has ever taken 5 years to set up so why on earth is it taking 5 years to set up this Team? It is just another pathetic delaying tactic from the AFL. Tasmania already has two AFL Stadiums that have been deemed fit for AFL Football as well as Cricket. Tasmania does not need a 3rd AFL Stadium. It is not the Taxpayer's job to build Stadiums with roofs. Let the AFL use some of their TV rights money to build the Stadium.

  19. Tasmania: it's about the location of the 25K stadium. There is a 20K stadium at Bellerive where for less than half the funds it can be upgraded. The business plan sees no more than an average of one event a week and 15-20% at best are AFL.

  20. Eddie? When U next play golf or even drive in a sunny day or go outside on a sunny day of over 22? Put zinc cream on your face.. your looking reda than beetroot..

  21. Tasmanians will never ever accept the AFL'S Greed they make $3 Million a Match selling the TV Rights then expect the Taxpayer to build their stadiums. I hope they set up a Soccer and another NBL Team for Launceston this will see the AFL fall further into decline in Tassie and it will serve the AFL Right for their disgraceful treatment of Tasmania for the last 30 years.

  22. I wonder if Jackie has been protesting the government's 1 billion dollars recently gifted for fossil fuel exploration in the NT?? seems a bit more of an issue than a stadium which will make hundreds of millions for the Tasmanian economy….

  23. Love the dialectic on Sydney. Its good they can both be passionate but have a respectful debate. Spot on about Tassie – their own worst enemies

  24. Totally agree with Jimmy. Why would you invest that much money in a small stadium? Small town thinking that suggests that Tassie perhaps shouldn't have an AFL club.

  25. Tasmania is a strange place politically and attitudes. There is a lot of small thinking and chips on shoulders. The stadium will be good for Hobart in the long term. Embrace it!

  26. Jimmy is bang on.. they need to tag onto this and they will get more problems solved

  27. The AFL is irrelevant. These people live in their own little AFL world no one cares AFL died many years ago

  28. No tassie it's a waste of money time it won't help afl just make them lose money and come crying to other clubs for money ….omo
