These Irons Are A HUGE PROBLEM For THE BIG BRANDS!

  1. Wilson staff model MB, what a great looking iron James! That's whats i expect from a forged bladed iron, not what pxg delivers… Also the cb and D9 look good!

  2. I got fitted into these D9 and the shafts were going to be 80 quid upgrade each. project X 5.5 so nothing exceptional. The fitter could understand it and told me straight up, it was not worth it. Loved them but ended up with second hand T200s. I wonder if I made a mistake or not.

  3. Thanks! Just bought a set of Wilson dynapower. Was looking at ping and the Wilsons out performed them in all aspects and I saved $300

  4. I enjoyed the predecessor C300 Forged. Very strong mid/long iron performance 👍
James, these probably slot alongside the JPX Forged. What made the Tours preferable in your last several fits?

  5. I have the D9 forged in my bag and I absolutely love them, everything said in this video is bang on 👌🏌🏌

  6. I still use old pings, maxfli and mp5 in rotations. Wilson dynapower are the best irons I have hit this year. These are lovely looking.

  7. The answer you are looking for when you said, "Why are they not in my bag?" is pretty simple. When you are playing with one or more people, you do not want them looking in your bag and not seeing clubs with the names of Cobra, Callaway or Taylormade on them.

  8. Remember your lesson with David Leadbetter about your take away! It's looking better though since pre lesson when you were starting extremely flat!

  9. Still playing my c300 forged, not much difference to the d9. Lofts might be different. Love em .

  10. James…Great choice for review..Wilson D9 are very under rated irons..Would you do a review of the Wilson D9 forged vs the Mizuno 225 Pro forged??? These are in the same class and only .5 deg apart in lofts…Thanks…

  11. Great video james, your very down to earth with your reviews and you hype up the "lesser" known brands, it shows to people you don't have to spend your money on the " big five brands" to have good clubs. Keep up the great work! 👍

  12. If they had Callaway mizuno ping TM written on them everyone would buy them ..I think there amazing

  13. What kind of Wilson irons does Padraig Harrington use? They look raw and I have never seen them retail.
It's a brand thing, add MacGregor, the now gone Hogan, even Maxfli, Ram, big time brands at one time…they just got left behind. Blame it on marketing I guess. I don't believe direct marketing works all that well in golf clubs either, as some of those brands have or are still doing. Wilson is a strong competitor to this day, the name just doesn't get people excited, not anymore. How about Maltby irons, talk about underrated!

  14. Got these after a fitting session, hitting these absolute miles, straight, look great and also come in cheaper than most big brands.
The 4 iron is an absolute weapon in my hands

  15. I got a hole in one with Wilson irons the first year I ever played back in the 90's. I've been a Wilson guy ever since…. and no have never gotten close to a hio again 😂

  16. Recently purchased some unbelievable irons for feel forgiveness, complete package, at a reasonable price too, best I’ve ever played 🏌🏻‍♂️🏌🏻‍♂️

  17. I have the D7's and my son has the D9's and they are both fantastic, i've never played better golf than now!

  18. I purchased the D9 Forged with stiff shaft at the start of the year they are absolutely fantastic and they look awesome

  19. I've been playing with a set of custom fit forged D9's for 18months now 6-AW and custom fit forged D7 5 iron tried taylormade, cobra & ping irons but none of them worked for me. Wilson irons amazing and handicap is coming down nicely 👍🏻👍🏻

  20. The problem is by the time you’ve put a fitted shaft and a decent grip which manufacturers like a Mizuno do free your back up to £1000 anyway

  21. James am I mistaken or did you make it just past the red/ladies tees on that first shot? 😅😅😅
Wilson irons are fabulous. I owned the D7 forged.
The reason why you don’t have them in the bag is because you are-(I think)- the perfect magnet for marketing departments. The fancy car brand, the fancy watch brand, the fancy golf clubs brand. You like fancy brands.
No digging on my part. But I’ve been following you for a long time
Perhaps you can have the set that performs best for you, and then have the fancy brand set so you/others can look at. Totally doable if you take a golf cart- you can have two bags in the back no problem 😅😅😅
With the performing clubs you typically say “oh delightful” right after you hit the shot….. with the fancy ones you usually go “oh no almost made it”, all of this while Chris is laughing is ass off!!

  22. Price tag, uncommon metal, and brand won't attract better players. Mid to high-handicappers will look for something more forgiving and longer. $799 might have been a better price. Then you have the Takomo's to deal with and discounted 2020-2022 forged offerings from the big boys. Tough market. 😢

  23. Ive only recently gotten into golf, i bought the wilson launchpad 2 irons, i cant believe how forgiving and easy to get in the air they are, your video on them made me by them, perfect for all beginners. Much less costly than the ‘big’ brands aswell
