Bengals New Tight End Irv Smith Jr | “Can’t Wait To Play with Joe Burrow”

#bengals
Cincinnati Bengals new tight end Irv Smith Jr joins Dave Lapham in the Trenches today brought to you by First Star Logistics. Lap takes a deep dive into Irv’s football foundation and how his father helped him into the player he is today.

Smith tells us about his football upbringing and how excited he is for this new chapter in his career. Smith played college football for Alabama from 2016-2018 where he excelled in his pass-catching ability which lead to him getting drafted 50th overall by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019. The biggest issue for Smith’s young career is staying healthy and staying on the field, like Hayden Hurst last season Smith is looking to prove he is an elite player at the tight end position.

Irv couldn’t be more excited to be joining Joe Burrow and this Bengals offense. With the Bengals not selecting a tight end in this year’s NFL Draft Smith will be the TE1 to start the season. We can’t wait to see the Burrow and Smith connection this upcoming season!

  3. Welcome Irv to the Nati. Glad to have your energy and talent, looking forward to some great Bengals football. #9 is the best big play QB in the league. Your going to have fun here Irv.

  4. Who Dey from London, just listened to this on the road. This is going to be a franchise defining season 🔥

  5. Some were down on Irv bc of injuries I Guess 🤷‍♂️ I’m pumped & think he’s the best fit for a TE with Brrrr so far… he’s also going to want to prove people wrong which is always a bonus. Football Gods 🗣️ one time for a healthy season for brother Swirv 🙏
    Amen! 🐅

  6. Wow, very impressive dude, looking forward to seeing him nail it!

  7. Let’s vote Dave Lapham in the Bengals Ring of Honor this year! Dave is a true Bengals legend,in and out!

  8. He's got such huge upside as a playmaking TE. Stay healthy and the sky is the limit.

  9. He’s going to have to tough time staying healthy. He’s talented but not reliable. 😊

  10. Smith seems so likeable. I appreciate the professionalism of Irv when answering to the QB comparison. Can't wait to see his impact on the field!!

  11. I thought Tyler Boyd and Hurst were our TE, both are great . Why hoard TE 's when your so strong in that position.

  12. I think this guy will be a bust and the second string will will have to come in. This will happen in the 3rd week. Better hold on to Christian Trahan. This guy has heart!!

  13. Always great interviews Dave. We need Pac Man to get you and Sully on the Pat Mcafee Show, you guys break the game down perfectly.

  14. Still think Bengals should have gotten a bigger 2 way TE that would be a reliable 1st down / redzone catcher rather than a more mobile / smaller receiving TE. Think that difference would be more noticeable in the playoffs. Rooting for Irv though !

  15. He needed a change of scenery. Viking’s fans could have been cooler to him last year. He definitely can get open. Good luck Irv Smith Jr from a Cincinnati Vikings fan
