  1. Это невероятно! Сколько раз смотрю и каждый раз восхищаюсь!

  2. I love the under dog story of Big Red. Although I was just a teenager, I was thrilled to watch these races live.

  3. Loved the movie and Secretariat was so special. He will live forever in the hearts of Triple Crown fans.

  4. One stat really say's it all. There are 3 triple crown races…when you look at the fastest times for each of those events, the same name is at the top of each list. There have been many great horses through the years…but there was only one Big Red!

  5. Sad they win 10 striaght and go to stud. Wish they missed a good horse by gelding it and comes back a rocket 😂 than hes forced to race on

  6. i increase my equine lingo yes sham and secretary were incredible shame there had to be 2nd place the year i got born good year that one

  7. I have always wanted to see the full video showing all the horses of both this race and the Preakness. I have always contended Big Red ran the exact same race in both races…they just look different because in the derby Shecky Green sprinted out with Sham so it took secretariat longer to catch them whereas in the Preakness Shecky Green and Sham tried to save their horses by running a slow first three furlongs, so Secretariat passed them very quickly, so though the races looked very different Big Red ran nearly identical times in both races for all furlongs.

  8. Before the start and even before that last turn, we never know what amazing things this horse and jockey could make possible. Watching the 1973 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, it looks like Secretariat could have gone even faster! Sublime.

  9. Sham probably would have been a triple crown winner , but had the bad luck to race Secretariat .

  10. They named the chewing gum Big Red after Secretariat I was told as a kid don't know if that's true but I did get to see Secretariat when he was retired and what a big and handsome horse he was. He ran up to the fence my sister and I were standing and posed for a photo like he knew I wanted a picture to show my friends..

  11. the Belmont Stakes…..
Secretariat knocked 2 1/5 seconds off the track record and won by 31 lengths.
there's no horse in the history of horse racing that could have ever beaten Secretariat on that day.
to this day Secretariat still holds the records for the…. Kentucky Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes

  12. I hope people realize this is one of the greatest athletic performances by one of the greatest athletes ever.

  13. Sham's jockey beat the snot out of him in every Triple Crown race, and lost. By a lot. Secretariat is the greatest race horse there has ever been, and his records, now 52 years in, have not been approached. Best. Ever. By a wide margin.

  14. Incredibly crystal clear footage. Well done to NBC Sports indeed. I doubt those who were actually at Churchill Downs on that first Saturday in May circa 1973 even saw the race this clear.

  15. I think Seattle Slew would have beaten Secretariat
in one of the Kentucky Derby or Preakness, as they
were shorter races, but I think Secretariat would take
Slew in the Belmont — just too much easy power.
