I'm so glad you're doing this. Pointing out the facts is precisely what we all should do. I heard a story a few days ago. Paul Azinger at his best back in the day felt like for the most part anything longer than a wedge was a par club. Very few times did he feel like a 9, 8, or 7 iron was a birdie club. The perception of what pros regularly do is skewed by TV. I went to the US Open in 2013 at Merion. The best shot I saw all day was from a pro who missed the cut and was finishing his 2nd round on Saturday. 50+ yard bunker shot with a lip that looked like it was 6-8 feet high. He not only got it out but stuffed it to within a foot. It was so good it's burned into my memory bank.
