Astros: J.P. France rebounds but the offense goes MIA

Eric Huysman and Brett Chancey discuss the Astros struggling to score runs after scoring 12 runs the night before. J.P. France did pitch better, but the offense couldn’t score any runs. That’s baseball for you.

  1. The 10 run curse is absolute. The tracks are made of bricks are made of clay is made of dirt is made of dust is made of the words, “thou shalt not score if thou hast scored a ten the night before.”

  2. I don’t want to pile on anymore than anyone else about Abreu but when I see him coming up I give up all hope.

As close as it comes to a sure out.

Maldi much better. I’m not sure it isn’t time to ask the question: “Can Dubon play first base?”

The season is 25% through and The excuse just cannot continue to be made that he’s having a slow start. Even the Milwaukee announcers mentioned this. By the way the Milwaukee announcers are fair-minded compared to some of the others I’ve heard.

  3. France's curve looks nasty, he needs to work on that to bring it to the filthy level. I like the speed difference between the four seamer, change up, and curve. I think placement and command will be the key. I hate that we lost but I'm not angry…Diaz can do better, Peña just had an off day. Something needs to done with Montero, he has very little control, no command, low confidence right now (I am not saying trade but something must be done). Maton = ice cold🥶🥶🥶 full stop.

  4. I find it funny that you guys point out when Yainer Diaz has a bad game (which had not happened). First thing mentioned on the show. But yet when Maldonado has 3 stolen bases in one game on him, passed balls, 0-24 hitless steaks, and throwing errors, no word about that. 😅 He is the veteran and gets all of the playing time. If we want to talk about the most recent series completed, he was horrible defensively against the A's. They had all kinds of stolen bases on him. Lol. I went to game 2 of that series and he had two, almost back to back throwing errors, trying to catch two runners out at second base. Both runners went to 3rd base because of the throwing errors, one of which tied that game. Had it not been for Alvarez hitting a HR, who knows if the Astros win. Maldonado was playing buy one, get one free! 😅 So please call it like it is. Maldonado is a bad defensive catcher and isn't that what he gets paid for? 😅

  5. I love our team the team I hate is the rangers. It’ll come down to the Astros & ranger in October battling it out

  6. Montero got what he wanted, big bucks. I think it was Sparky Anderson that said: “Give me 9 players in their option year & I’ll win you a world series.

  7. Getting shut out is bad folks. Not just from fans perspective but from a teams perspective. Bad night or not it gives opponents a formula to beat us. Obviously what makes the astros great is they adjust but its still never good. We absolutely should expect after blowing out a team like the brewers they would have been studying us and want revenge. Surely we can be more unpredictable. But hey- I say this every year and guess what? We claw right back. On to the next one. I just retired so now I just watch the astros with my old man. 😂 its our time now. I earned it.go stros!!! Btw.. 17:14.. How about maldy coaching diaz…? That is awesome..

  8. Get Dubon at 1B so we keep his bat in the lineup and let Abreu sit most games.
Have Gilbert start playing 1B in the minors, bring him up ASAP. When he's ready DFA Abreu, move Dubon to outfield/utility, and play Gilbert at 1B.
Montero to low/no leverage situations only, if the game isn't a sure loss don't use him.
Diaz to replace the old, now officially terrible defensively Maldy.
Near trade deadline trade any 1 or 2 of 3 from Dubon, Chaz, Meyers IF ace starting pitcher is available, remaining guy plays CF.

  9. Eric, Brett does an excellent job with those spoken commercials, the intro's to them are cheesy and I don't like them, but I can tolerate them because I like his baseball analysis and positivity every night.
