Do the Detroit Lions Have the BEST Backfield in the NFL?

Adham Beydoun and Jeff Iafrate discuss whether or not the Detroit Lions have the best or one of the best backfields in the NFL with the combination of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Adham and Jeff list off every starting backfield in the NFL and compare them to the Lions. Adham is hesitant to say they’re top five in the the league due to the fact that Gibbs is an unproven rookie until he plays this season. 1. I think Detroit held Barclay to like 14 yards last year. For the Giants.

  2. Detroit has an incredible RB team. Point #1 were not talking about a duo, we have a trio, Mohamed Ibrahim is going to be a big part of this Backfield, all 3 of them have incredible hands. LB across the NFL won't be able to cover them, especially Gibbs. They'll be lining up in the BF, in the slot and even wide as a WR. Teams will be forced to cover them with CB, which will only open up our WR team even more. What a nightmare for opposing teams, the Defensive Cordenators are going to go crazy trying to stop them. Wow, think about what our WR will be facing from these teams.

  3. If youre grading the back field by no means can you factor in the Quarterback. He's not considered part of the backfield

  4. David Montgomery averages 3.4 yards a carry…he's not a difference maker…good but he's not a top 10 running back sorry

  5. Monty
    Gibbs
    Ibrahim
    Reynolds
    and don’t forget about
Greg Bell! That dude is nice (if he’s able to return from his injury from last year).
He would have made the roster last year barring injury.
