  1. Hi Lads, I was listening to your chat with Vinnie yesterday and the old summer soccer debate came up again and none of ye could understand why soccer isn't played in the good weather of the summer months. It probably makes perfect sense for those living in Dublin City particularly but also Cork City, Limerick City and Galway City where some kids just play soccer. Outside the cities, however, most of the kids who are sporty play football and hurling as well as soccer and will often prioritise GAA. When they tried summer soccer a few years ago, country soccer teams were put in a very difficult position and our local club, for one, had to fold all teams over the age of 12 as a result. Competing with the GAA in the summer might seem viable in Cities but is a non runner for country clubs all over the country. Cheers – Ian in Cork
