Hicks was such a long time coming, of course NY was frustrated with him, a 7 year $70 mil contract and he hasn't been good since 2018, Hicks has had only one double-digit HR season since 2018 (it was 2019) and not more than 10 doubles in the same time span…but the big number to me is he hasn't even hit for his meager career batting avg of .230 since 2019, he ended his year with NY at .188
Please do not tell Rizzo that he is fast! 😂😂
Bauers is still hitless on the road the season, needs to figure that out if he wants to stay on this team
Hell yes no more Aaron hicks he can’t catch and he can’t hit I like the way the Yankees got Greg Alan back because also he could play third base besides the outfield positions

Allen did hit .270 for NYY in 2021, but to be fair it was only 15 games..he was a wreck for the Bucs last season hitting just .188 (exactly what Hicks hit) but NY has a history of catching lightning in a bottle with these pickups/callups, and Allen is doing things right out of the gate. The fact is he will be an improvement over Hicks even if he doesn't hit because he has speed and a great glove, Hicks was giving NY nothing on either side of the ball

Wells is definitely almost ready with the bat. I think they still will want to wait on his catching (especially with our pitching struggling with injuries there is no reason to throw more on the fire with lesser catching). But by next year, I fully expect Wellls to break with the team. He might've this year if not for injury. His bat seems big league ready (at the very least, he should be at AAA now). I feel like this is the year for Ben because Wells will kind of take his spot next year. Unless longterm, they plan for Ben and Wells as the catching duo with both as lefties and one more of a hitter, one more of a defender. That would work for me though I absolutely love Trevy (and Higgy is great, but he is just not a longterm plan type of guy while Ben arguably could be).

As of Monday morning — Rizzo ranks 2nd (among AL 1B) in AVG, OBP, SLG and OPS (behind Yandy Diaz). He is Tied 1st in HRs (Diaz) and 4th in RBIs. I think he's definitely in line for AS votes at this point and should be the backup to Yandy. His performance this year so far makes is that much harder to pitch around Judge.
