Warriors CEO Cameron George on bringing Manu Vatuvei back to the Warriors

Warriors CEO Cameron George joins Martin Devlin on IOS, following the news former NRL star winger Manu Vatuvei is set to be released from prison early and take up a part-time mentoring role at his former club.

Vatuvei was last year sentenced to three years and seven months in prison for importing and supplying methamphetamine. Cameron George talks to Martin about how the move to bring him back to the club has come about, the risks involved, and more.

  1. Too soon in my opinion. It doesnt feel right just yet. Could end up helping to normalize rather than deter

  2. only did 1 year of 3.5 year sentence and has a job when he gets back, i guess he is Warriors royalty, didnt expect the courts to go along with it

  3. I believe the club are doing the right thing, Manu is going to need all the assistance he can get and this should be a huge help, he did make a serious mistake but I reckon let’s help him up, there’s a good chance he’ll make the right decisions for the future, and if he does now good is that?

  4. I don't think it's right, dude was selling poison ffs, to his own people no less. This is professional sports though, corrupt as f.

  5. This is a bad call in my opinion, but if the warriors go through with it,then i don't want to hear anymore complaints about "biased refereeing"…this guy chose to break the law, wasn't content with wealth he had accumulated as a professional nrl player…bad call!! Nuff said

  6. This is the way more of a glimpse of how shit our economy is that ex professional sport stars are having to revert to selling drugs.

  7. I can understand Cameron George position on the Vatuvei as it’s in the clubs interest. There are young men though in the system serving time for less crime. They come from broken homes, gang families who have experienced none of the advantages that Vatuvei enjoyed.
13 years on a professionals pay packet which used wisely is more than enough to set you and your family up for life , high status as a star which allows significant opportunities for renumeration and growth, , the love and support of an entire league community.
