The biggest thing that happened in the Disc Golf Off-season, was of coure Simon Lizotte going to MVP Discs. Simo Lizotte, who has been sponsored by Discmania forever, decided to make a 10-year 10 million dollar contract with MVP Discs.
I think Simon Lizotte going to MVP is a smart and mature decision by both parties. Simon gets to secure his future and also the full freedom to get better at Disc Golf and win the Pro tour. Mvp discs gets the most valuable player at the moment in Pro tour and is probably going to see a huge sales increase because of Simon Lizottes huge social media precense and fan base.
Discraft signed 2 top players in the off-season. Valerie Mandujano and Anthony Barela. Anthony Barela was the bigger fish of the two, but both players on their best day will be top 5 players in any given tournament. Discraft also strengthened their Elite team by lifting some familiar faces to the elite team. Brodie Smith, Corey Ellis, Ezra Aderhold just a few to mention. Discraft is looking to be the best team in the ucoming Pro tour.
Discmania lost their brightest and most valuable player (simon lizotte), but made a contract with Gavin Babcock, which is a really smart thing to do. Gavin is a solid pro player and I think Discmania will be great home for Gavin.
Innova discs didn’t acquire new players at all, instead made sure that they didn’t lose any important ones. They renewd all the big contracts and are still the strongest FPO team in the DGPT.
