Punchy Finale Sees The GC Action Kick Off! | Giro D’Italia 2023 Highlights – Stage 8

There is no rest on stage 8 of the Giro d’Italia, with a long 206.6km stage between Terni and Fossombrone. The first 150km are relatively simple but things get spicy on the final classics-style circuit around Fossombrone which features four devilishly steep climbs with maximum ramps of up to 19%.

  1. Pretty sure Evenepoel controlled the distance trying to reserve as much energy as possible for stage 9.. he gonna crush the competition tomorrow I believe

  2. if anyones curious, ben healy did 370w and 390w normalized at 65kg for 33 minutes at the end of the stage to secure his victory. absolute bonkers

  3. MR. Lloyd – I have been thinking. We know racers train by power and race by power, but has anyone thought about tactics based upon avoiding fatigue? Did Remco Evenepoel's director put a limit on how much power he was allowed to produce today, so as to avoid losing time to tomorrow's time trial? Are Roglic, Geogehegan Hart and Thomas going to cost themselves more than 14 seconds tomorrow due to fatigue? This would be applying science to tactics.

  4. Absolutely ridiculous that athletes in such supreme condition are being held out due to Covid positives. Pardon me for mixing politics in with sports but there is no denying that governments are still doing everything they can to keep control by instilling fear.

  5. This is why Remco needs Alaphillipe as a super domestique, 100% would have limited the loss on that technical descent. Even if Remco gains more time tomorrow there is scope to lose minutes on stage 13, 16 & 19, those stages are just brutal.

  6. I drink most of my cappuccinos at around 7PM
haven't been thrown into jail, yet!

  7. Enjoying the Tao and Geraint double-punch.

Really happy for Ben Healy. It's been coming hasn't it.

  8. Begorrah, that lad must have had some powerful poteen! 🙂 Good to see Primoz moving closer to the overall position.

  9. Anyone think Evenepoel wasn’t showing weakness, just saving himself for the TT?

  10. Rogla knows that after TT can be difference around 1,5 min but now he knows very well that can be confident in mountains to find difference back. He is much better than Remco in difficult stages. Rogla can be good in TT but not on very flat terain there Remco is better and only there. That is why this year we have 2 flat TT. Only on that way Remco can plan to win and than follow others in mauntains..

  11. Love the highlights but giving away the result in the commentary at 2:50 is disappointing, not the first time this has happened

  12. Pleeeeeaaase can the commentator tone down the foreign accent exaggeration… I’m not sure even native Italians pronounce “Maglia Rosa” so over the top

  13. A decent voice-over script would trust the pictures, unlike the standard GCN approach (as here). Don't say "They would never see him again." Let us discover.

  14. if you'd quit complying with the stupid covid test, maybe you could have racing again.
