Golf is a target orientated game, and even though most amateur golfers understand the importance of lining themselves up correctly on the golf course (and have a fair idea what it consists of), I still see alignment issues in the majority of players I meet.

Golf Alignment Tips – Video Summary

– Step 1: Stand behind the golf ball so that it is located directly in line with the target. This line is your target line.

– Step 2: Position your feet at address so that they form a line that is parallel to the target line, i.e., the line formed by the ball and the target. This type of golf alignment is called a square stance and this is the fundamental alignment to use in golf, or the default setup position in golf.

– Step 3: Make sure your knees, hips, and shoulders are all be aligned on that same line.

– Step 4: Position your club behind the ball so that the clubface is perpendicular to the target line (and the line of your feet). This is referred to as the square clubface position and is the default clubface position at address.
