I would have an ounce of respect for them if one of them any of them said we didnt hustle, we played soft, we played like shit and we deserved to lose. What a joke. Comments should have been “we were not good enough – period. This is on us. Truly let it set in for a second. These guys get paid $7-$11 MILLION per year. That is an obscene amount of money to not perform year in and year out. Nylander, Reilly, O'Reilly and Woll really tried hard. I feel bad for the team. I hope things get better and the best changes are made.

This is still a great team. Just make a few adjustments. I love Auston Mathews but he only has one more year. The Leafs have to look at a possible trade for Mathews.
They just don't play enough games like they played game 4. Game 4 is how you need to play most of the time in the playoffs and the Leafs just don't bring that "hard" playing enough. Don't know if it's the players or the coach. I do think the coach is not the most tactically proficient. He lets this team continue on with some loose inconsistent play.

Matthews and Marner would do well on other teams, playing a 2nd line role, for like 6 million dollars. They would THRIVE. They are definitely not top dogs or guys who can handle everything being on them. But if they could just accept a lesser paycheck and less responsibility they would both do really well.
I have come around to liking Marner this year, but all this talk about wanting to play together…If these three guys each take a million off of their overblown contracts (I am not including Nylander), we should be able to keep at least Bunting, Schenn. But no home town discount here…
My only hope is that guys that are not returning (I will include Nylander here as he may be sacrificed in the name of retool and let’s face it no other GM will want to touch the other three contracts) sign with a real contender. Let’s continue the run of ex-leafs becoming Stanley cup champs, I at least can celebrate that.

tavares is garbage! im tired of people trashing on holl when our $11 million captain is out there blowing tires. tavares is absolutely garbage. he cant skate, he cant generate offense, hes completely useless. him and our Ebug goalie matt murray are taking up $16 million dollars from the salary cap!!! do you know what we could get for $16 million dollars? we could have Bennett, Duclair, Verhagee, and still have money left over to go sign JT MILLER!!! instead we are stuck with these BUMS!!! thanks to KYLE DOOFIS!!!
