A must WATCH before you buy your new clubs.

In todays video I look to find the difference between a 5 Hybrid and a 6 iron, same loft but very different performance. PXG GEN06 Irons and Hybrid in play.

  1. Tsr1 in my opion best on market at moment you had so much prase for hy wood tsr1 range is a bigger headed hybrid and a super light shaft

  2. Great video. I think the Hybrid has a longer shaft which ‘may’ explain greater club-head speed?

  3. I held off on hybrids for the longest time but finally gave in and bought a Tour Edge 3 hybrid. Andy helped convince me.

  4. I do carry a PXG xf 22- 4 hybrid but may add a 25- 5 to the mix this year. Currently I still carry to the 5 iron but may drop it from the bag.

  5. It would be lovely to see the same test with 5 iron vs the 5 hybrid. Best bet is the hybrid still goes farther and higher even with more loft. For sake of disclosure, 5h is about 1.5 inches (4 cm) longer than the 6i.

  6. I’ve got a 4H set with 23deg to replace 5i & 3H set at 18deg.
Could you do a video on shot tracers. What app/camera, does it require subscription as see loads of YouTubers using them, but never actually show how?

  7. Andy, have seen many golfers hit their hybrids left 99% of the time; I prefer to hit an iron for control or choke down on a fairway wood if doubt the iron will get there. Different strokes for different folks…

  8. I finally broke down and pulled the 4i out of the bag and replaced it with a 22° hybrid. You are so right about the confidence being different between the two. Even though there is only 1° lower loft from it to my 5i, the extra shaft length and ball speed off the face as well as the forgiveness make it a perfect fit and it will be used much more confidently than the 4i ever was.

  9. Hi Andy… Curious on which shaft you were fitted into (or preferred) on your new Gen6 0311Ps and the shaft on the 5H ?? using any lie adjustment on hosel to reduce the left side? P.S. Portugal golf is now on my bucket list!

  10. Hi Andy great video as usual…..ya i am starting to lean towards the hybrids….i am 58 and the hybrids are more reliable i think for me…i went with the STEALTH 2 HD in my woods and hybrids and LOVE them…..nice and straight and high….. cheers from Canada

  11. Really enjoy these types of comparisons! As someone new to the sport, they are very helpful and illuminating . . . and your execution of these nuggets of understanding don’t hurt neither. Another 👍 from this Yank.

  12. Hi Andy, always love these videos as I am a PXG fan. However, with all your talk of ball speeds I thought perhaps you had purchased a Swing Caddie. Let's get some real numbers added to these videos.

  13. 5:30 PM I have been experimenting with the same clubs lately and am leaning towards keeping the hybrid in the bag, for now.

  14. Why would you not compare the 5-hybrid to a 5-iron? The purpose of hybrids was to replace irons of the same number.

  15. Watched a number of reviews on the Gen 6 product line, everyone has been very positive from top to bottom.

  16. I've gone the other way and added a 4 iron back in the bag. I was struggling with the high trajectory.

  17. Hi Andy. Love your videos thank you. Wouldn't it make more sense comparing the hybrid and iron that go the same distance. Gaping is critical so comparing the same distance clubs rather than the same lofted clubs (as Hybrids go further with the same loft) would be really helpful. Thanks again

  18. I have warmed up to hybrids in the last decade but I still only carry a high lofted hybrid for rescue purposes only. When the lie dictates they have their uses. But cannot get comfortable with them overall. Will take an iron all day long.

  19. I’ve just been fitted for Gen 6 P and have stopped at 6 iron which has gapped perfectly with my 22 degree Ping hybrid. I haven’t used a 5 iron for years

  20. Just grappling with the idea of dropping the 5 iron for a 4 hybrid. It’s mainly the carry distance I am looking for as the 6 & 5 irons carry the same yardage. Might have to look at the PXG.

  21. The 6 iron has 26 degrees of loft and the hybrid 25. Looks like the hybrid is easier to play. Aren't hybrids really just a crutch? Once one loses confidence in the 6 iron doesn't that also affect confidence in the other irons? Is there a benefit to learning how to hit long irons well?

  22. Great video just what I like to see comparisions between clubs options so us average golf's can make informed decisions. Thanks Andy

  23. personally I dislike the look of a hybrid at setup when compared to the look of an iron but I like the benefit of the wider sole of a hybrid over an iron that is why I have ditched my hybrids and switched to so called iron-woods specifically the Tour Edge E522

  24. Dude, your comparing a 6 iron with a 5 hybrid which is actually like a 4 iron. either get a 4 iron or a 7 hybrid and have a fair comparison, this video literally tells us nothing… Have fun wasting your time in Portugal…
