There's no defense for the friend! Look at the video. Look at his eyeballs. His friend looked over at Ja while he had the gun out, stared at him for a minute, while Ja was flashing the gun. AND still moved his phone over to record Ja. Then so as to not seem like he did not know about the gun, even though he did, his "friend" points the camera down. His "friend" knew what he was doing. In both sense of pointing the camera to get a shot of Ja with the gun and then pointing the camera down, to seem like a good "friend". Plus his friend did that gun gesture with his hand before Ja pulled the gun out, so in a way Ja was trying to out do him by actually having a gun in his hand.
